my 2011 Moomba Mobius LSV

i had a 03 LSV i bought 2 years ago, with no imidiate plans on upgrading.
well then i went to the houston boat show :D they offered me for trade in value, the same money i paid for my '03 2 years ago. and then my bank gave me some insanely good terms. after going back and forth for a few weeks, i pulled the trigger. had them order me a 2011 LSV built to my specs.

well i just got pics from the factory! the boat is WAY ahead of schedule. :D it was sprayed and layed on the 3rd, and now 6 days later the boat is nearly half done looks like. its near the end of the rigging line awaiting the tower. there even talking a possibility of a february delivery date.

Awesome! Congrats. What tower did you do? That is cool that they sent you pics.

redsupralaunch 02-09-2011 4:59 PM

Cory, the blue wrapped in the boat is the bomb:D Congrats. What tower are you getting?

stang_killa_ss 02-09-2011 5:19 PM

i got the rad-a-cage.
the V2 tower option was like $3500

i was more than happy with my old rad-a-cage, and this one is more pleasing and larger diameter tubes.

loudontn 02-09-2011 5:30 PM

Cory, that's awesome man, looks sharp

1niceharley 02-09-2011 5:53 PM

Neat! Congrats! Hope they keep sending you pics of the process.

timmyb 02-09-2011 6:08 PM

Lookin good! Congrats!

polarbill 02-09-2011 8:03 PM

First of the boat looks great. Is the V2 tower the Illusion? If it is 3500 on top of what you would pay for the standard tower that is absolutely insane.

JohnAr 02-09-2011 9:40 PM

That boat is beautiful. If I ordered one, I wouldn't change anything from that.

ilikebeaverandboats 02-09-2011 10:28 PM

loving the blue gel interior!

chattwake 02-10-2011 5:41 AM

Looking good Cory. Glad you got a new boat man.

stang_killa_ss 02-10-2011 5:43 AM

thanks everyone. yes the V2 is the illusion. and yes the 3500 is on top of the standard "free" rad a cage.
but i BELIEVE it also includes the z5 shade and special board racks in that price. where the standard cage the bimini and board racks are extra. not 100% on that just what i was told.

chattwake 02-10-2011 5:47 AM

Unless something's happened that I don't know about, there is no Z5 available for an illusion/swoop tower.

Preston 02-10-2011 5:47 AM

Boat is looking good!!! I really like the colors you chose, and love the blue gel on the interior.

chattwake 02-10-2011 5:47 AM

I"m obvously referring to the z5 cargo rack.

stang_killa_ss 02-10-2011 7:58 AM

it looks like the included V2 shade is not a Z5 after all.
pic i took at the houston boat show
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/9...llowmoomba.jpg

cjh1669 02-10-2011 8:12 AM

You can't put a z5 on an illusion tower. If you did you'd have zero head room. THe pic you got is the standard illusion bimini, whihc is super easy to put up and take down, also super durable.

fman 02-10-2011 8:49 AM

Nice looking boat, and congratulations! always have been and will be a fan of Skiers Choice builds. I like the blue/black color combo you selected, post up some more pics when its sitting in your driveway!

scotthons 02-10-2011 9:57 AM

That looks very nice! Congrats!

bruizza 02-10-2011 12:57 PM

Great looking boat Corey!!!

Laker1234 02-10-2011 1:19 PM

Sweet boat--Excellent color choices.

stang_killa_ss 02-11-2011 8:18 AM

just got new pics yesterday! the boat is at the end of the line and "almost done" tower is on, raised chrome letters are all on, looks like trim plate and swim deck brackets are also on. getting so close!

ShawnB 02-11-2011 8:40 AM

You made the right choice with that tower. Great looking boat.

tyler97217 02-11-2011 8:59 AM

oooh powder coat that tower black and you are dialed.... looks great

mark197 02-11-2011 10:29 AM

That is a sexy boat:eek: I agree get that tower black and you are money!

polarbill 02-11-2011 12:57 PM

Looks great. I have always liked that tower. It matches the lines of the boat perfectly. It also looks solid. It also looks like it is very easy to add accessories to including bimini, racks, speakers, lights and a mirror.

I also agree with the others. That would look straight Gansta if it was powder coated black to match the black on the boat, the rubrail and the windshield.

migs 02-11-2011 1:15 PM

SHARP! congrats

lakesurfer 02-11-2011 4:12 PM

Great looking boat. I went to the Dallas Boat Show last night and the biggest surprise to me was how the Moomba has stepped up its quality and still at a very reasonable price.

leboeuf45 02-11-2011 4:36 PM

I know this is a very tacky question to ask but in general what can you buy a boat like this for?

stang_killa_ss 02-11-2011 5:04 PM

47k

trdon 02-12-2011 6:25 AM

That is really sharp man, I really like the moombas and should ride behind one sometime. If I did, I would probably consider selling mine for a newer one. I do like that tower much better than the malibu looking one.

beretta5spd 02-12-2011 7:03 AM

super sweet ride. I hope it sees a million hours before you're done with it :)

stang_killa_ss 02-12-2011 7:09 AM

im sure it will, we put 250 hours on our last moomba in 18 months.

stang_killa_ss 02-16-2011 8:55 AM

just got the call! the boat is at the dealership and ready to pick up! wow from contract signing to ready to pick up in 2 weeks. thats just unreal. im so stoked.

slipknot 02-16-2011 9:55 AM

Congratulations! That boat looks great! WOW! The deal they gave you is amazing! Times are tough, the boats they were selling three years ago have to be about half of what they were numbers wise.

stang_killa_ss 02-18-2011 6:19 PM

Nice, i am jealous of you! They let me know that mine will be ready this coming week, and I am real excited. I noticed that you ride on lake belton, i have a few friends that ride out there as well and im sure i will make a few trips there this summer. Are going to hit the lake this weekend? if so let us know how the water is.

stang_killa_ss 02-18-2011 7:49 PM

we'll be breaking in the motor sunday.

wake_upppp 02-18-2011 8:37 PM

Ya'll got some nice roads in Texas! Nice lookin boat too!

stang_killa_ss 02-20-2011 6:29 PM

well we took her out for her maiden voyage today! we started the motor break in process and got 4 hours on the meter. also checked everything out for the dealership "to fix" list, but couldnt find a single thing wrong. everything worked perfect. hell i was amazed even the bildge stayed BONE dry the entire 4 hours. not a drop.
the new reversable pump ballast is gonna take some getting used to. but the fill times are a HUGE improvement. the redesigned dash, windsheild, and seat, and there relationship to each other were also definatly improved.
the new bigger hull is amazing handle the 20 mph winds so much better. very smooth. and although the same motor, it seemed to be much more spunky (and touchy). tons of torque. overall we were very happy. but have several more "sight seeing" trips to the lake to get the 10-20 break in hours before we can start sacking her out hard. we noticed with no ballast the wake and surf wake was actually ridable.
pics!

Nice looking boat. In the one picture I see the stern of a Supra. Are Moombas and Supras made in the same factory?

thescott 02-20-2011 7:31 PM

Cory - Sweet looking boat! Very nice. Really like the color.

Seth - Both Moomba and Supra are made by the same Co. Skier's Choice.

beretta5spd 02-20-2011 8:22 PM

if I remember correctly Corey you had a nautique 2001 with a monster tower on it just a couple years ago. Talk about some sweeeeet upgrades. You are blessed man.

ilikebeaverandboats 02-20-2011 9:45 PM

i dig it man. Very simple, very clean, looks pretty sweet! definitely pops on the water.

wake77 02-21-2011 5:51 AM

Congrats. Boat looks great. Nothing better than getting the break-in completed before spring arrives.

fman 02-21-2011 3:46 PM

Congrats again on your boat, looks really nice on the water!

How many hours do you plan on putting on it before you start pulling someone? On my '08 22SSV I waited 5 hours and started pulling people. After 231 hours when I sold the boat the compression was perfect at 200lbs in each cylinder.

Whats the typical break-in for Indmar's? My dealer told me 5 hours was plenty to set the rings and have a proper break-in. I took it in for the first oil change at 15 hours.

stang_killa_ss 02-21-2011 6:00 PM

thanks everyone!
Dwight, yes my first boat was a 82 SN2001. killer boat. still miss that thing great wake. plus the old school factor was just cool, lots of thumbs up from the old guys.

Travis. break-in oil change is 20 hours. it wasnt set in stone, but they recommended for the long run to not start ballasting up until 10-20 hours.

lol my SN2001 had over 2000 hours on it when i sold it. the compression was right around 89 pounds in each cylinder. ran strong as hell, but smoked pretty bad.

stang_killa_ss 04-10-2011 2:20 PM

well got allitle done on the boat today.

did the 20 hour oil change. and had all the oils and planed to do the Vdrive and tranny too but got lazy, and the manual says there good till 100 hours anyway, so ill wait on those. oil was still clear as water and the magnetic plugs will catch any shavings.
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/4...roilchange.jpg

also installed a sub, it was a freebie that came with my 03 LSV. sounds good and with the built in amp, couldnt ask for a easier install. although after i put it in my drivers controls for the stereo quit working. they power up and shows the station/track etc, but none of the buttons work, so ill have to look into that.
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9517/subev.jpg

also found some color match "no skid" mat at garden ridge. so i cut that up and put it in the cooler and glovebox to keep them from getting scratched or stained up.

stang_killa_ss 05-14-2011 1:08 PM

well i found out why i still had a vibration after replacing the bent stock prop with the acme 1433(we hit a stump). i was going to install the new acme 1939 and discovered this. no clue how i missed it the first time. gonna have to take her in for new strut and shaft. hopefully we didnt damage the v-drive too by wakeboarding a whole weekend with it this way. :(

That just plain old SUCKS! I hope it's not too expensive to fix.

jeff_mn 05-16-2011 6:12 AM

Been there man.. Hit a submerfed rock/log with my Moomba, lost the prop all together, bent the rudder and bent the prop shaft..

You'll get it back dialed man. Good luck

bruizza 05-16-2011 12:27 PM

Damn that sucks Cory. Hope you get it right and back on the water quickly!

stang_killa_ss 07-05-2011 8:41 AM

well i spent my 4th of July installing some new LEDs in the boat.
i used some LED strips that we use on our RC airplanes, and some left over aluminum bar i had from making the custom bimini top.
Total cost was under $30 and took about 2 hours

didnt want the speaker ring look, i wanted more of a undercar neon glow. end result was just what i was after.

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1936/ledsstrips1.jpg

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6019/ledsstrips2.jpg

i wasnt expecting this. it really lights up the tower (reflection) its MUUUUCH brighter in person, hopefully it wont reflect off the windsheild at night, but our windsheild is SO laid back i dont think it will even be an issue.

Beautiful boat! Doing some nice upgrades to it. Too bad it comes with a sony deck, any plans to change that?

stang_killa_ss 07-05-2011 11:37 AM

thanks and thanks. absolutly not, it works awesome and looks great, and the blue lights in it match the boat ;) plus it has a ton of jacks for add ons and inputs.

cwb4me 07-06-2011 5:54 AM

Looks AWESOME Cory! I like the reflection off the tower as a bonus.Looks very professional too.Sony makes great equipment, everyone has a opinion though.

wakereviews 07-06-2011 7:46 AM

Nice work Cory!! Boat looks great. What are your plans for the tower speakers?

stang_killa_ss 07-06-2011 9:08 AM

thanks!
currently none. were more into riding and often dont even turn on the tunes.
but if/when i did. id probly go with a kicker dual speaker dual pod KTM6. there under $200 for the pair (4 speakers) shipped on ebay, and people are having amazing luck with them. i heard a set in person at the oklahoma supra jam. at nearly a mile away they were still crystal clear. and probly a walmart 200.2 amp. had good luck with one on my last LSV.

stang_killa_ss 07-10-2011 2:13 PM

woot, hit 100 hours this morning! in only 4.5 months!
definatly no trailer queen :D
http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/3488/100hours.jpg

and i realized i never took pics of the boat after i put the custom bimini on so i snaped a couple this morning.

stang_killa_ss 07-19-2011 8:30 PM

well we towed the LSV 3.5 hours down to Bethy Creek Resort for the weekend for a Moomba Jam. it was absolutely an amazing place. glass all day every day, as long as you could ride litterally. we met some awesome people and just had a blast. we have traveled alot wakeboarding but that place takes the cake. we will definatly go back.

suthaforce 07-22-2011 5:44 PM

Pretty sweet boat!! I am looking at heading down the same path as you. I have an 05 LSV and would be getting a new 2011. Did you notice a big difference in the seat height from the floor? Main complaint I have about our 05 is it feels like you are sitting on the floor and the low tower height.

stang_killa_ss 07-25-2011 11:07 AM

HUGE difference. one of the main differences is that my 03 couldnt have an integrated bow sac. seats were just too shallow. now i can, plus now i have actually usable storage and cooler under the seats.
