showmedonttellme 08-18-2008 3:21 PM

Just watched the trailers to Thats It, Thats All. Thought I'd open up the can of worms with a thread.

So, you and 5 buddies-2 sets each and some random hotties, a full day of glass on your fav lake or river.

Orrrrr.....

Those same 5 buddies and 2 feet of Fresh - 12-15 runs at a dope resort like Squaw or Kirkwood.

One caveat, if you've never ridden powder your opinion does not count. And I mean POWDER, not some 4 inches of slush on bunny hills.

Bring it on Ladies and Gentlemen!!!!

08-18-2008 3:25 PM

Corby, Id have to say the glass on any lake with you and the show me; wins out in my book. Its been too long my friend.

nsolis220 08-18-2008 3:26 PM

pow hands down!!!! Its the best drug ever! I tell people all the time i love being on the boat with some peeps that love to ride chillin and taking sets. But the rush of droping off a cornice into 3 ft of pow and knowing if you fall it may be over for you is mind numbing. Its the best high in the world!

26lacefield 08-18-2008 3:31 PM

a full day of glass and random chicks for sure. think about it. your up on the mountain with the girls thinking the whole time what kind of body they have under those thick pants and jackets and if your out on the water you've got them down to nothing pretty much already. i'll go for the bikini girls all day long hahaha. i do love a nice day in the powder though.

behindtheboat 08-18-2008 3:32 PM

Glassy days have come more often (to me) than a dump like that... I'd have to go snow.

jjakober 08-18-2008 3:33 PM

Pow Pow Pow!!!!

showmedonttellme 08-18-2008 3:34 PM

What up Kyle! Roll through Sac lets go ride before summer is over.

jarrod 08-18-2008 3:36 PM

two feet of fresh is a tough call. 3 feet+ and you gotta take the snow. Especially if it's super cold.

The deep fluffy powder days in the trees are few and far between for me. I haven't been getting enough of that.

romes 08-18-2008 3:37 PM

POW for sure. epic pow days are few and far between. POW days like that are typically ones that you remember FOREVER.

5 of my homies, random females and glass is an everyday thing where i'm from....

kimmy 08-18-2008 3:40 PM

Powder all the way!

hbguy 08-18-2008 3:44 PM

Pow for sure! Especially if those random hotties are in the jacuzzi when we get off the mountain.

jarrod 08-18-2008 3:44 PM

"5 of my homies, random females and glass is an everyday thing where i'm from...."

YAAAAY-YA!!

You guys are some hustlas.

helix_rider 08-18-2008 4:26 PM

For me it all comes down to the feeling. Stop for a second and think back to your last powder run. Backcountry...standing at the top of the mountain...it is *silent*. Then you start cruising and the only noise is your jacket brushing trees and the swoosh of the board. Man, sometimes I hate it that I left CO. Thanks for the memory Jarrod.

wakeboardlasvegas 08-18-2008 4:38 PM

The glass and ladies for sure!

wakesurf12 08-18-2008 4:48 PM

There is no such thing as girlfriends on powder days!

POW POW GNAR GNAR!!!!!

wayz 08-18-2008 4:54 PM

I'll take the powder, I get the glass from the Delta all the time. I just dread the long drive for the powder.

wakeboardlasvegas 08-18-2008 5:13 PM

Is this a Wakeboard site or snowboard?

skatehawk11 08-18-2008 5:28 PM

depends on the season!

dreamrider 08-18-2008 6:47 PM

take the pow. There are so few of those days.

jtnz 08-18-2008 6:47 PM

Only 2 sets each? No way... ride all day.

I had a blast hitting the powder down here in NZ for the first time a few weeks ago, but I'd have to go for the glass.

joe_crawley 08-18-2008 7:02 PM

I can see glass every day of the season here in MI, but I only see great dumps out west 2 times a winter if I'm lucky. I'd take the fresh stuff

westsidarider 08-18-2008 7:06 PM

i get glass and hot crickets any day of the week and would still take that over the pow.

technarider 08-18-2008 7:14 PM

thats a hard one... but i think water wins out

K.B.C. 08-18-2008 7:36 PM

I'll take the pow pow please

K.B.C. 08-18-2008 7:37 PM

oh, and how was the new vid? I think Rice was filming that for like 2 years, should be pretty sweet. That guy is the MAN

unclejessie 08-18-2008 8:48 PM

I'll take the snow... I get maybe 2 epic pow days a year, while I can get 5 glassy days in a month...

UJ

nuckledragger 08-18-2008 9:34 PM

I will take the 2 feet of fresh. Then you can take the random hotties in the hot tub afterwards.

I can't wait for Mammoth to open.

jayson_49 08-18-2008 10:26 PM

2 ft of fresh pow has been few and far between lately. i'll take it..then throw on my wetsuit and hit lake tahoe haha!!

jayson_49 08-18-2008 10:51 PM

nothing beats the rush of slashin through 2-3 ft of fresh pow between the trees...man, can't wait...pray for snow

hawk7 08-18-2008 11:05 PM

How dare you pow fiends sully the offer of a glassy lake?!?!

I'll take berryessa cottage cheese over powder any day of the week for sure, I'll take my sesion from earlier today of the crowded-and-windy-sacramento-river-catching-my-back-edge-tubers-throwin-thier-rollers-every-where-in-the-one-good-spot-not-landin-anything-set over fresh powder any day.

let me semi-hijack this thread with this question: Would you rather be a professional wakeboarder or snowboarder? [not taking into acount money or iconic status, just to make it fair...]

now you think about what you've said!

westsiderippa 08-18-2008 11:19 PM

you can have your kirkwood and squaw sierra cement. rode that ish my whole life. ill be in the real steep and deep wyoming style bradda. where the snow is as dry as the sand is here in santa cruz. thats just imo but i also ride delta butter every week so im spoiled there too. god i love nor cal. oh and i know its not part of the thread but ill take a maxed out tripple overhead northwest cranking through third reef at the lane over any of the above. anyone care to join me, not usally a big crowd on those days

jayson_49 08-18-2008 11:24 PM

being that pro snowboarders get more publicity and bigger payouts at comps (was @ the vans tahoe cup this past winter and the total purse was $200,000), etc, etc,...not to mention it's involvement in the Winter Olympics AND the X-Games, If i had to choose, I would be a pro snowboarder. dont get me wrong, wakeboarding has a dope ass scene and is fun as hell but snowboarding does just a little more for me...

jayson_49 08-18-2008 11:27 PM

sorry trevor, i didnt read your disclaimer!!

hawk7 08-18-2008 11:33 PM

yea I was gonna say somethin, in the end it comes down to, snow vs. water, boat vs. ski lift, sun vs. cold, Cali/Florida vs. Virginia, drivin to the launch vs. tire chains, bikinis vs. snow bunnies, and wakeboarding wins all of those rounds.

denverd1 08-19-2008 12:24 AM

water. bikinis. strapped in. party cove. sunshine. bikinis? what's the question?

altho, 2 ft fresh powder..... hmmmmm.....

i'm no help. pick one, give me a board or give me death!

allen 08-19-2008 8:00 AM

2 feet of pow and bluebirds, all day over water.

romes 08-19-2008 8:03 AM

you know what it is J-Rod...

i'm there Bryan...i'm gonna be in SC in 2 weekends. Nicole's playin in a beach tourny sat morning. lets get it.

woundedknee 08-19-2008 8:12 AM

GLASS...

winter requires too many clothes.

wakechic06 08-19-2008 9:33 AM

Powder all day.....very rarely do you get days like that.

norcalbordr 08-19-2008 9:35 AM

glassy water hands down.

jarrod 08-19-2008 9:41 AM

Snowboarding with your boys in the back woods is so awesome. I love riding close with friends, sharing lines, blasting off the natural hits formed by rocks or whatever, and then there's the little breaks you take in between powder runs....... Love the snowboarding culture.

romes 08-19-2008 9:51 AM

thats how i feel ab it too jrod....there's really nothing like bein out in the middle no where while its dumping with your homies hittin jibs, droppin cornices, bootin natural hits and makin turns in chest deep....

summer's not even over and i'm ready to hit that snow...

ogopogo 08-19-2008 10:07 AM

POW!POW!

Shredded my shoulder a few weeks ago and this is now all I am thinking about! Bring it on!

K.B.C. 08-19-2008 10:12 AM

Nice shots Ryan, those look like some fun lines.

Anyone that will take a choppy day on the lake over a bluebird powder day has NO clue, sorry.

nbigger 08-19-2008 10:17 AM

I can go alot of places and get glass I have to plan a trip to get powder... so powder any day. And there is always a Hot tub at the resort.}

shon_g 08-19-2008 10:20 AM

This is a tough one....I am gona have to go with the pow. J-Rod hit it on the head...
Snowboarding with your boys in the back woods is so awesome. I love riding close with friends, sharing lines, blasting off the natural hits formed by rocks or whatever, and then there's the little breaks you take in between powder runs.......

parkgirl 08-19-2008 10:57 AM

I'm gonna go with POW too - can't wait. They are way too far and few in between for me now. But nothing beats endless runs with your friends til your legs are shot.

BUT- a 100* plus day on Vic's with no other boats and 3-4 riding buddies is always an A+ day for me as well.

yooper 08-19-2008 11:21 AM

This one isn't even close.

I'll take the POW.

ridinonair 08-19-2008 11:24 AM

I'll take the glass on that one, new to wakeboarding and just can't get enough!

mike3500 08-19-2008 11:31 AM

POW for me!

POW depends on Mother Nature, and for the Glass, all you have to do is get out before everyone else.

onthewatermo 08-19-2008 11:38 AM

Timely enough, last night I read this thread for the first time after applying my new Hyperlite sticker (courtesy of Murray's board program) to my ski helmet wondering how I would end up scraping them off this year...POW POW POW!

brhanley 08-19-2008 11:56 AM

Let's see: a truly epic bluebird powder day (which conditions typically occur only 5-10 days at most per season (sometimes less) and are totally weather depedent) over a glassy, warm water day (which I can pretty much get any time I want to skip work)? The equation may get a little closer if you guaranteed an epic wakeboard set or two with a new trick and a couple big dubs, but still not that close.

timmy 08-19-2008 12:27 PM

I'll take the glass.

I don't care for the cold weather anymore.

hawk7 08-19-2008 12:34 PM

has anyone here ever had one of those days on knights landing? you're ridin straight butter for days and days, then you turn a corner, and more butter! it's a ride that seems to just keep going. seems to me that there is far more stress invovled in snowboarding, the only stress in wakeboarding is pumpin gas, but when everyone throws down, it's all good. hit up knights landing, cut out and chill in a cuff slide, it's therapudic. I enjoy powder, but nothin, and I mean nothin beats a good day on the water, nothin beats a sub-par day on the water.

yager97 08-19-2008 12:37 PM

sweet sweet BC powder all day long......

hawk7 08-19-2008 12:47 PM

This is a BAD day on the sacramento river.

wakeboard_pittsburgh 08-19-2008 1:17 PM

Considering the fact that we have glass all day here in Pittsburgh and we never get any fresh powder at our local mountain, I want to say powder, but I can't... There is something about sitting on a boat in the warm weather that is just amazing.

I will have to say that after living in Florida for 22 years, I am enjoying the seasons. Snowboarding in the winter makes Wakeboarding in the summer more enjoyable.

behindtheboat 08-19-2008 1:28 PM

Tons more stress in wakeboarding, much more than just pumping gas (boat, driver, PP, waiting your turn). The one area snow has wake beat is with friends, you can all ride at the same time. The only thing in snow is the lift and if it has a line. And butter is good, but nothing beats a good dump and fresh tracks.

onthewatermo 08-19-2008 2:46 PM

...and there aren't that many "tree runs" where you and friends can stop and take it all in wakeboarding.

hawk7 08-19-2008 5:14 PM

"nothing beats a good dump"

??

anyway, since when is perfect pass stressful?

bftskir 08-19-2008 5:34 PM

i'd need 4 feet of powder to be swayed, very rarely have i snowmobiled where 4 feet of fresh had just fallen, but once up on a 10,000 foot pass that the groomer had just run leaving 4 foot high walls, i was headed downhill and throttled the sled up to 45 or 50 and cranked it into the "wall" only to disappear completely into the white wall, then cut back towards the road and pop out of the wall back onto the groomed. it was insane submarine snowmobiling. i needed a snorkel.

I will still take the glass on a 100 degree day with bikini babes on the barefoot boat.
