Whats the deal with these skim boards? Are they easier or harder to surf with?

A boat wake has almost identical characteristics to a "sidewave" or "liner" and skimboards have been refined over the last 50 years to make the most out of these type of waves. IMO- It's easier to do tricks once you get used to not having a fin.

(Message edited by moh2o on May 30, 2005)

(Message edited by moh2o on May 30, 2005)

I rode a skimboard once, it was crazy loose. I had to really concentrate on keeping an edge or I would slip out. One thing I noticed was, once you got the board in the sweet spot and hit the gas, it was dope fast!

What about boards like Phase 5, which is basically just a skimboard with a fin, right? Doesn't this make a little more sense?
