I prefer the T handles over the small triangles and knotted ropes...guys with bigger hands have a hard time getting two hands in the small triangle. The knotted ropes are tough for kids with smaller hands. The T-handles, IMO are the best compromise of safety and convenience.

The only one that I have seen anymore is made by LF.

What is the safety issue associated with shortening a standard rope?

A lot of people will hold on to the handle, even if they are sufing with slack. The problem is getting caught in the handle and being drug, not fun and almost had it happen to me.

I run a straight line small triangle and I have *ahem* large hands. A lil uncomfortable gettin up but its not a problem.

There are a couple issues. When you ski or wakeboard and fall the speed of the boat pulls the rope handle away from the rider. This is not the case when surfing. If you fall while surfing with a standard handle there is a good chance of having a body part go through the handle and get pulled by the boat. Another potential problem is hitting somebody with the handle when you throw the rope back into the boat.

We have the big fat accurate wakesurf line and handle and its great.

I prefer the miniature "ski" handle over the knotted L/F rope we bought first. Newbies also find the knotted rope hard to pull up with.
