Ok guys, Here is the low down I've told some of you about. We are almost done filming for our second video titled "Pendulum" that will be out in late June early July. We are going to have multiple sound tracks/edits to try and make more people happy with the music selection in the DVD. Basiclly you will have the main soundtrack and movie that plays when you hit the play button on the main menu. If you go to the audio option menu you will be able to watch an alternate edit with a different soundtrack. What I am asking you guys is to let me know how you would like to see the soundtracks laid out? Would you think it was alright if we laid all hip hop on the main menu movie and all alternative/punk/rock/ect with no hip hop on the alternate audio menu movie or vice versa? Or what if we had a mixture of all types of music in both video options and just changed the type of music in the alternate option. For example: If Andrew Adkison rode to hip hop in one option we would have music other than hip hop in his alternate section and his alternate section would also be re-edited to the new music.
Just let me know how you guys would like to see this new option added to DVDs and whether you would like to see the different types of music mixed or kept seperate? Thanks
here is a pre teaser teaser for the film "Pendulum"
http://pendelum.com/teasers.htm
click on the pendulum teaser. Thanks again guys.

make one edit, completely hip-hop. That's the one that I would want to watch.

For myself, I like most music no matter what type, although I do like hip hop most. Therefore, I would suggest to mix it up throughout the movie. Music is all about attitude and expression, so really, whatever music matches the rider's style or section will be best. Mixing obliously will give more variety and a little something for everyone.
As for the menu, put in some hip hop or rock that will really give feeling about the whole DVD.

I would like to see more rock in the main edit. In general, I think rock goes better with wakebaording vids(just IMO). Be sure to get some Rage Against the Machine in there!

nlitworld 02-14-2005 2:11 AM

hahahaha, Rage is killer. Let the rider pick the music I say. That way it gets the viewers a chance to see what the rider would want to ride to in order to further express their style. yeah you can do alternate edits, but have the riders pick all the music to their parts.

I agree with Nlitworld, Let the rider pick.

Brinks,

First that's an excellent preview. Video/Music/Editing all solid. I'd buy...

One question for you though. When you re-edit to different sound tracks do you also re-coreograph (s/p?) the music with the video? What I mean by that is many wakeboard videos have the beat of the music corresponds to a wakeboarder landing a move hitting the wake or some other specific event (your vid does some of this from what I can see). It seems like it would be a great deal of work to re-edit for another soundtrack. Is this what your proposing?
BTW-I vote for a mix of hip/hop, Rap and Rock.

brinks 02-16-2005 1:13 AM

TSO,
That is what we are doing. we are going to try to let the riders pick the music for their main section but the alternate would be like an opposite music genere. We will try to match the music to the riders style in the alternate edit and in the main edit. Thanks guys

heres what i would do if feasible. on the main section use what the riders wanted you to use. on the edit section. use a rock/punk and have an all hip hop.

You have to mix it up. It's the only way to appeal to a broader market.

obsurfer 02-16-2005 11:00 AM

The surf flick Blue Horizon did a great job. But surfing is slower. I think J-rod is right mix it up. Check out the Menu in that movie they give you a Jukebox. Cool!

derek_h 02-16-2005 11:52 AM

PUNK!!!!!!

wickedwake 02-16-2005 11:59 AM

I would say mix it up too. My two favorite songs from a wakeboard video are both from Relentless. "Old Man"--Neil Young and "The Southern Fried Intro" by Ludacris. Two polar extremes there but still my two favs. As long as the video fits with the music I doubt the general public will care. A alternate all hip hop track would be sweet though!
