Is there a difference between dexron II and III transmission fluid? I can't find dexron III that is recomended in my owner's manual. (boat is a 98 205dd if that matters)

Also what is the easiest way to change the fluid (besides taking it to a dealer)

Thanks

Dexron II is the older version of Dexron III. They are all downward compatible. I am assuming that you mean you cant find dexron II because III is readily available. Just don't get Dexron V its synthetic.
