Whats the best way to dock the ipod wired into the stereo system?

Wire and velcro?

Any suggestions?
|
GD, check out MB Quart's new dock. Saw it in the new Overton's catalog.
|
I just throw mine in a soft pounch in the glove box. I have one ipod that is pretty much dedicated to the boat, so it rarely leaves, only to update songs.
|
Thanks! I like that!

Too bad they are backordered.

I had a sirius s50 car kit but never used it in the boat so I used some 2 sided tape on the dock and presto.

There are hundreds of good options out there but try to use the 30 pin plug to the ipod instead of the headphone output. You get a level signal for all you tunes.
|
Andy, by the head unit. The dock just stores the ipod securely and out of the way. You still need a headunit that is ipod ready (and interface if necessary). I just thought it was cool since you just slide the ipod in and go...no pouches, connectors or anything else to deal with.

MB Quart's 08 stuff looks pretty good (and reasonably priced)....wish I had waited another year. Glad the mfgs are realizing the market potential.
|
I am also getting a new head unit (because my old one gave out). Thinking about adding a wired remote too. Will any of the wired remotes control the IPOD?
|
Buy the interface. They work great, Just create playlist, the head unit sees it as a cd changer.
best $75.00 you will ever spend.

Then you can control the ipod from your remotes.

If your head unit won't accept a interface. I have one of those adapters that charges ipod and plugs into head units rca jacks.

Just shoot my a e-mail if you need it.
|
AD, what is "the interface"?

Anyone know which head unit and wired remote combo is best for controlling the IPOD?
|
This is what I'm getting for my boa. Itt controls the Ipod from the head unit and has 2 remotes. 1 wired, 1 wireless. The wireless is waterproof and is good 100 ft away so if you wanted to change the tunes while riding, clip it to your vest and your good to go!

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=iDA-X100M

(Message edited by 02byerly132 on April 02, 2008)

i have an $8,000 boat so i think its only fair that i use velcro. Hey if it works for the astronauts it should work for me. Lol I have the cable that charges and plays tunes. love it. I also have a dedicated "boat ipod"
|
Reaves, I have the Alpine wireless remotes. They take a little getting used to. There is a slight delay in when you press the button and when soemthign changes. and the 100ft claim is a little bogus, proabbly closer to abotu half that. alot has to do with where you place the antenna.
where are you getting the wired remote at?

i have the harmon kardon drive+play. it works awesome. have it in my truck too. put the ipod in my glove box.
