Broken Tailbone
Anybody broken and/or badly bruised their tailbone? I was riding at the local cable and tried to glide up on the shore instead of subjecting myself to the 40 degree water temps. Needless to say, I caught an edge and landed on my backside. :banghead:
So I keep hearing that nothing can be done for a broken tailbone so I've put off getting it looked at yet. But now the pain is almost unbearable...sitting, standing, walking, everything. My question is what is the treatment for this injury and if it's worth getting it checked out. |
ouch!! I looped out on my mountain bike years ago and landed on my tail on the blacktop. It took months to heal. I'd still have it xrayed so that you understand the severity of the injury. Your "tail bone" is your pelvis. If it's broken, you should know.
I bet that hurt like a SOB. |
About the only thing that can be done is remove the fractured piece of bone.... good luck dude..

damn! Good to know if it is broken or not but there isn't much they can do for you. They might just tell you to sit on a donut or pillow for the next few weeks.

I broke mine learning Raleys. I had to get a round inflatable cushion to sit on.It took about 6 weeks to heal. It still gave me a dull pain if i sat on a non cushioned seat like a wooden chair or bench for a year afterwards. I never went to the doctor as they can't set it. Good Luck.

Thanks all. It sucks. Reminds me of a broken rib where it hurts to do anything. I should probably go get it checked out but I hate to spend the money for them to tell me they can't do anything anyway. The wife is pushing me to go so maybe I will eventually give in.

I'm like you Eubanks. I hate going to the Dr when I don't think there is anything they can do. I tend to just let stuff heal. Good Luck!
