OK guys I went out yesterday for the first time this year and used my 03 Parks bindings for the first time as well--

How much are these things going to loosen up??

I know the cold water (40 deg.) and newness of the bindings will have something to do with them being stiff--but dang it took me 15 minutes to get them on and another 15 to get them off!

I assume they are the correct size? - XL with a 11.5 foot

Should I do the hot water or boil thing??
I have 11.5 foot and XL 03 Parks and was in 40 degree water today(not for very long). Just popped them on, without soap, they do loosen up. the hot tub thing is nice to do though.

kristian,
how many times have you used them ?? All last year or are they fairly new?

Bindings take about 10-20 rides to fully loosen up. Neoprene and EVA does respond to temperature so a hot water soak will help them loosen up. The best thing is to wear them a lot.

maybe if you used binding slime to get them on on the swimstep it wouldnt take as long

Just put them on, sit back and watched the Godfather movies. Should be good by then! at least that's what they always say about snowboard boots.

Cold water makes a big difference

sw1 03-12-2004 8:03 AM

I did use slime, if I hadn't I don't think I would have ever got them on!

I guess I will have to soak them and kick back in the recliner --at least I know now that they will loosen up some more--

Thanks

Shawn whatever you do DON'T do the hotub thing. The chemicals in the hot tub break down the material of the bindings...best to use a bucket of hot water or the bathtub. I have brand new Boss's and the right one feels great, the left one is a little tight, so I've been wearing it around the house for a few hours or I'll sit with them on in front of the TV. Good luck

Shawn, I used them for 3 months last year, and a few times this year. So they're pretty well broken in. Teri is right, I just filled up the bath tub. Cold water does make them stiffer though.

thanks for the replies --I will do the bathtub soak

Good points on the chemicals in the hot tub

J-Rod is right - cold water makes a huge difference. During the summer my XL parks boots slide on and off pretty easily- no slime or nothing. This winter, its slime, slime and more slime to get them on. Plus, yours are new. You'll be fine - dont boil them!

westsidarider 03-15-2004 8:57 PM

best thig to do is heat em up with a hair drier and stick your foot in them until its cooled back down again. do it a couple times if needed
jetgofish 03-16-2004 8:34 AM

A warm bath tub works excellent... Do NOT do the hottub thing, chemical will break down the material of the binding. HOT BATH WORKS PERFECT!!!!

jetgofish,
I am doing the hot bath and it is working well--they are getting better with every soak!

thanks

stop whinning. I have a size 15 and wear the xl Parks. I like my boots tight. Wear them 4-5 times and they will fit like a glove
