GPS App for Cruise Calibration
What app is everyone using? I'm having a hard time finding on that has a decimal readout.
Using an iOS device at the moment. |
ive used GPS V-Cockpit & SpeedoMeter both were very accurate.
|
I would use a handheld GPS.
Out of curiosity, how do you know they were very accurate? What known very accurate device did you compare them to? I ask because I had an app on my phone and when I compared to to 3 different handheld GPS's and a cop buddy's radar it was always 1-2 MPH off in the 30 mph range. Deviation increased as speed increased. |
my buddy had a handheld GPS devise(garmin I believe) as well on the boat at the same time.

Cool. I know the app I had wasn't the ones you listed. I deleted it and can't remember the name. It wasn't even consistent. One time it was slow..the next fast.

There is actual an app called BoatSpeed. Works great. Give it a try.

Seatow app looks like it'll meet my needs. I'll try to confirm speed accuracy with the car. Thanks!

UPDATE: The SeaTow app was pretty spot on this morning when I was driving into work. Thanks for the recommendations.
