Ok, thanks all for your input. I have narrowed my choice down to two boards.

Would you rather buy a 08 Watson 138 for $200 or an 08 Shane 140 for $215.

Please tell me which one you would buy and why?

Thanks!

I haven't owned either board, but have ridden them. I would buy the Shane for several reasons:

1. Nothing wrong with a little extra length.
2. I liked the Shane's faster speed.
3. The Shane was looser IMO.
4. The board seemed almost too wide for me, but it sure made the landings smooth.

havasu4life 12-29-2008 6:39 PM

ya i am leaning toward the Shane because of the width.

But the watson's carbon X is sweet!!!

Have not ridden either board. I would choose the Watson because:

1. It's my size.
2. I want to ride that board.
3. All Watson's graphics are good.

watson!!!
the 09 looks sick

slipknot 12-29-2008 7:24 PM

how about an 09 Axis for $275

havasu4life 12-29-2008 7:46 PM

Thats a steal too! I am looking 2008 instead of 09 Watson because it is much cheaper!

Axis is sick board though

i've ridden both and ended up with the one w/ better speed, softer landings and bigger pop...the shane.

(Message edited by dakid on December 29, 2008)

so the shane 140 seems to be where it is at ??? (between these two)

How much do you weigh? The shane should be ridden smaller then the watson. I ride a 138 watson and a 136 shane. Im 185 and the 138 watson was awsome for me. It is by far my fave board.

dakid 12-30-2008 12:30 AM

"should be" ridden smaller than the watson?

i'm 5'9" 160lbs and ride the 140 shane (rode the 138 watson).

wakeboardern1 12-30-2008 12:40 AM

I ride the 142 Watson in all my 6'6" 235 lb glory.

When it comes to size, plain and simple, it's all preference. Some people like bigger boards in general, others like smaller. What works for you can, and most likely will be, very different from what works with other people. Trying to make suggestions on the board based on weight is something I have always found a little foolish, unless you know, the person's weight is way below what the standard use for anything larger than a 140 is...

I havent ridden the shane but I really love the 08 watson - great pop, i found the landings smooth, the board is aggressive and responsive, the second snappiest deck I've ridden next to the ronix one DHV1. Actually you should throw that in, in 137 or 142. $250 and no shipping here.
http://cgi.ebay.com/RONIX-ONE-DHV1-142-NEW-Wakeboard-Hyperlite_W0QQitemZ120355952756QQihZ002QQcategoryZ 47363QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

well I weigh 180 and am 6 FT tall. I could go with either board! i am just curious what you all think!

How loose is the DHV1 compared to the Watson and Shane.

I would think with my weight I would need to go 142? would I be two heavy for the 137?
