Hi Folks,
I am trying make a decision on the best slalom/wakesurf boat in a v-drive. I know it seems like an odd combination, but some bad knee injuries have taken high impact wakeboarding out of the picture, leaving slalom and wakesurfing. I am currently looking at the Sanger V210, V215, Moomba LSV, and the Mastercraft X2. The CC 211 would be ideal, but out of the price range.

I appreciate your feedback!

polarbill 01-12-2010 8:49 AM

There is a 211 on here for 34k obo. It is a really nice looking boat. Offer then 30k and see what they say.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/751835.html?1262451376

malibu vtx

By the way. You are better off saving up for an extra year and getting the boat you really want and is going to meet your criteria than to settle for something that really doesn't do what you want it to do.

The V215 is the best value out there bar none but I have to imagine it is a terrible ski boat. How about a Malibu V ride? There is one on this site for under 30k that has a deposit on it and another one for just over 30k. They aren't the ideal ski or surf boat boat throw a very nice wakeboard wake and are very nice boats.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/754361.html?1262708266

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/767851.html?1263261453

Here is a very nice boat in the Seattle area that could be had for probably 3 or 4k more than your budget. It would be worth it over those other boats though.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/boa/1547348827.html

Another seattle area boat that may do both pretty well. It seems a little overpriced though.

(Message edited by polarbill on January 12, 2010)http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/1549054410.html

(Message edited by polarbill on January 12, 2010)

Tige' 20v 22ve or Z1. I know the surf wake is awesome. With TAPS your slalom wake will be good too. I think on the latest wakeboarding magazine review they said the Z1 has a KILLER surf wake. Just another idea.

If your worried about your knees, actual slalom skiing behind a vdrive is stupid. If slalom to you means riding a slalom ski around casually, then no big deal. But it you plan to really ski back and forth, and cross the wakes repeatedly, etc, you are asking for injury behind a vdrive. I suggest looking a larger direct drive.

The MC 209 or the X9 is a large DD boat that skis pretty well at higher speeds, and surfs fine with stock ballast (options on 209, standard on x9). Would surf even better with additional ballast.

If skiing is really a priority, dont' get a vdrive.

i would add the centurion falcon to your short list v drive or direct drive it has the same hull as the enzo 220 and does all the sports well.wake flattens out fairley well at 34mph you should be able to find one in your price range

rallyart 01-12-2010 10:18 AM

Matt, when you are looking at boats consider the weight of the boats. Lighter makes a smaller wake for Skiing.
Also having or adding an adjustable plate is really important so budget to add that if the boat you decide on does not have it.

john211 01-12-2010 10:27 AM

While 'stupid' might be too harsh, I otherwise agree 100% with dhcomp.

dhcomp 01-12-2010 10:30 AM

If you hard a higher budget, i'd reccomend an 07+ Malibu Response LXI.

Tournament spec ski boat, open bow, 20ft, surfable stock with just wedge, surfing gets better with weight. Good smaller wakeboard wake with wedge down.

Good solid boat. But out of your price range unless you find a good deal

I have an 02 Supra SSV and it is a great crossover boat. Remove all of your gear and friends, trim the bennet tab and out you go for an early morning ski. Load up the ballast (gravity games sacs required) and friends for some afternoon wakesurfing and you will not be disappointed. The hull is the same until 2006.

If you want to come down to Victoria mine is for sale. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/748083.html?1258815517

I am a little biased, but you should check out a Tige 20V or 20i.

wake77 01-12-2010 5:16 PM

If you are truly worried about your knees, and don't mind not being able to wakesurf, get what I got

chpthril 01-12-2010 5:53 PM

Another vote for the Tige 20V: 20' length, 96" beam and the Tige TAPS adjustable wake plate is standard. I haven't skied behind one, but the surf wake is awesome with some weight added. The narrow beam and TAPS should give you a favorable slalom wake for a V-drive and the narrow beam will also make wake2wakes a little easier when boarding.

highrock 01-12-2010 7:22 PM

I will give a vote for Tige here. A older 21V would do the trick, I always thought unweighted it had a good slalom wake. Also check out a 22V or 22Ve if you could find a deal on a newer one. The 22's are basically the same boat hull since they started for the most part and they can do both pretty good for a crossover boat.

rallyart 01-12-2010 10:13 PM

Jeremy, if you've got a line on one of those for the price of a 215 I'll take one. I might even spend a little more if they throw in a full tank.
Besides, who is ever going to argue that you weren't surfing if you say you were.

tampawake 01-13-2010 6:52 AM

Funny how a 96" beam is narrow these days.

dru1974 01-13-2010 8:09 AM

Look into a mobius ls, dd and a good wake for slalom, just be sure to get the g 3 ballast

jeff_mn 01-13-2010 8:35 AM

^^

There is a DOPE direct drive Mobius with G3 ballast for sale in the the Wakeworld Classifieds. Well priced too.

dru1974 01-13-2010 11:46 AM

is that the 07 red one jeff? Its loaded and awsome, I ordered a new one but yes it is hot

jeff_mn 01-13-2010 12:12 PM

white and black one was the one I was thinking about. actually, almost all white with some black graphics.

sick looking boat.

polarbill 01-13-2010 12:17 PM

I agree with Jeff that the White Mobius LS is a very nice looking boat. I remember when that guy bought it. The problem is that the OP said he is looking for a vdrive. If that is the case all this talk of direct drive boats is worthless.

It would help if the OP would post something after his original question so we could figure out what he is thinking.

dru1974 01-13-2010 1:24 PM

agreed, but he did say he had a bum knee
