So I hate my trailer... it tracks horrible, goes through tires every season and fenders fly off it all the time.... SO... I wanted to go from 13" wheels with bias play tires to a 15" wheels with radial tire and of course replace with bigger fenders to accomodate the new sizing... will this change make the trailer trac more straight and have less "jump" on the freeway? Will radials outlast bias ply?

Does it look like the boat is going down the road crooked?
|
when i tow at 60, and I look in the rear view, i can just see it going a little side to side

Bigger wheels with radials will probably help quite a bit, however if your boat is not properly balanced on the trailer it may not make any difference. Going side to side when towing is not the best situation to be in. Get the trailer checked if the situation continues after new tires and wheels.

Sounds like your trailer tongue weight is too
lite. You need 10 to 15% of the total weight of the boat and trailer on the hitch ball. Too light and the trailer will sway. You can go to a trailer website and see how to check tongue weight.

I've heard that MC's come with really nice trailers that track great.....

LOL!! Sorry. Good luck, bradda.

Also if you run any lead or solid weight in the boat make sure it is in the nose when towing.

extremeisaac, tell us what you really think of your trailer! LOL

Have you looked in to converting over to torsion axles? I do not what would be involved or how costly it would be, but I have heard of people doing it. I used to have an aluminum I-beam boat trailer with torsion axles and it road sweet.
