Have any good hardwood? We just bought a couple hundred acres between Gray and Lake Caddo. We bought it because it has a bunch of Walnut, Oak, Cypress, and Ashe Juniper that are mature and ready to be cut before they fall down. The trees should pay for most of the land. We will probably cut the trees, plant some new ones, and sell off most of the land. We will keep the land on the section corners though.

Anyhow, congratulations on the land! Do you have any pigs yet? The guys down on our land have been getting two or three every week.

I own a 0.23 acre ranch in Lake Dallas :D

jaegermaster 05-06-2011 5:44 PM

Hmmmmmm....I smell private shooting range.

Nice score. Congrats. I too own a roomy .23 acre estate in Coeur d'Alene. Great views of the neighbors and parking for 2.

Looks nice. Congrats !

Right, private shooting range, private dirtbike track, campground, etc. The kids are stoked. My oldest says, "dad, just drop me off for the weekend and i'll survive off the land".

I didn't see signs of hogs, but it's really dry out there right now. I'm sure they'll give me something productive to use my .223 for when the ground softens back up. Hopefully it's not a "problem" like some people are dealing with though.

Whereabouts is this newly purchased ranch of yours? My ears perked up when you said, 'Private Dirtbike Track'!

guido 05-18-2011 12:35 PM

Man.... That looks awesome. Congrats.

Thanks guys. We closed last Thursday. It rained about 3" in about 3 hrs... but we drove out there anyway after signing... not the smartest idea... in summary: we got stuck, called a tow truck. he got stuck, called the fire dept, got him unstuck, then he went into town to find someone w/a tractor to help us. Tractor (and his buddy in 4x4 dodge come out to help us.... tractor got stuck! 4x4 pickup got us out, but tractor stayed until Monday... goood times!
anyway, so we went back out there Sunday.
Here's my boys enjoying themselves...

BTW, Blake it's in Burleson County. Ironically about 2 miles from a little country MX park called Bluebonnet MX.... I would like to build a small track one day...

Nice! My family's up in Cass County for the most part. Your kids must be stoked.

guido 05-19-2011 10:25 AM

Yer gonna needa getchu a tracter, boy.

hahahahaha.... Seriously, I'm way envious. First thing I'd do is build a MX track.

Holy crap that was so close to what happened. it hadn't rained in that area in months. I told Roy (tractor owner), "man, i wouldn't have thought the ground would be that soft after so long w/o rain". to which he simply replied, "I would". But after he sunk his john deere, he said, "man, i wouldn't have thought the ground would be that soft...I've never gotten THIS tractor stuck".

woo hoo. took delivery of my new tractor today. Pics to come later.

Now you're talking.... I've always wanted a tractor.

That .223 looks familiar. I just built one that looks pretty similar.

Have fun out there.

aarond0083 06-15-2011 8:01 AM

That's awesome dude (I was born in TX). Thanks for sharing.

wakeboardertj 06-15-2011 8:42 AM

Very cool, have fun with the new toy. My Dad got that same tractor for our property and loves it. He went crazy with attachments, the post hole digger saved my ass though when it came time to plant 500 grape vines last weekend

snyder 06-15-2011 10:55 AM

Taylor, glad to hear some back-up on the Kubota. Most people instinctively say, "how come that tractor isn't green? aren't all tractors green?"
I'm thinking of getting some bolt on forks for the bucket. if my welding skilz were up to par i could probably build some for $50 in materials. but there are a few ppll that sell them on ebay for <$150 +shipping. would make managing brush piles a whole lot easier than the bucket alone.
