Where are you guys getting your 100hr services done? How much did it cost? What did the service include? I used Marine Max in the past but their Sacramento location closed. I got quoted over $600 from a local dealer and really don't want to pay that much for a service. Thanks in advance!

Larson Marine in Rancho performs a pretty thorough 100 hour service. It is $650 if they change the spark plugs with platinum plugs, or $500 if you don't want em changed.

Ya I am not sure Larson has any techs right now. I needed something done in Stockton and they said they had laid off all techs until March. I am not sure that was for Rancho also. California Marine handles Centurions.

I think it's really important to determine what is being done for a 100 hour service. So many shops do different stuff, and every manufacturer seems to have different service intervals for different items. At my shop, a basic "Annual" service on an inboard includes: Oil and filter, engine mounted fuel filter (if equipped), tranny fluid and/or V drive fluid change, check all belts/hoses, check alignment, lube steering/rudder port. We also do a basic trailer check (lights, brake fluid level, tire condition and pressure). We charge 299 for this. Plugs every 100 hours is overkill, IMHO, as are cap and rotor changes. Water pump impellers should go 2 years or 200 hours at a minimum if they are never run dry. We offer 100% indoor storage with 24 hour video security, never leave a boat in the weather for any reason. As more and more mainline dealerships close, smaller service shops that offer quality work at fair prices should thrive. Lower overhead than dealer shops helps, as does the availability of some pretty good technicians in today's market. My lead tech has 20 plus years, and is certified in multiple brands. <BR> <BR>This will probably get pulled as blatant advertising, as it should be. I have an oil question, maybe this is in the archives somewhere...if so sorry to piggy back on this thread...I was using Penzoil Gold 15W/40 in my Malibu 247 because that's what was on the gas cap even though it's really expensive and hard to find. When Ultimate closed, I started taking it to Larson's for service and they said 10W/30 was fine. Any issues with mixing oil weights? What about brands?

in Cali, we are fine because we never get that cold. i would run a 30 weight. you can run diesel oil. because it is impossible to fine 15/40 in gasoline oil

I agree....we don't have the temp extremes here to make it worth worrying about. Chevron Delo 400 is a great oil for inboard use.

Thanks, do I have to drain the oil before I change to 10W/30 or can I just mix it in? Same brand/different brand OK?
