So with these threads of "What should I try next?" going around I thought I would do one of my own. Be patient reading this because I want to give some background!

I have been riding for a long time (12 years or so}), but I started spending more time riding the last 4 years or so. I had developed some bad habits over the years with my TS edging which I feel I have mostly corrected this year. Most of my lack of progression I feel is attributed to this lack of technique. Spending some time at the Wakeboard Camp and really working on my TS form this year, I finally feel that I'm where I should be technique wise that will allow me to learn more TS tricks. All that being said, here is a run down of what I'm doing now:

1. HS Backroll (Doing it for a long time. After learning the R2R I really don't like to do them much anymore. They don't feel as good and don't look as good IMO)
2. HS R2R (Learned it last summer and now am 99% consistent)
3. HS FS Grabbed 180's
4. HS O/A 180's (I learned these this year but can't grab them yet)
5. HS Tantrum (Struggle with consistency at times)
6. HS BS 180 (Only can do these in the flats and inside out)

7. TS FS Grabbed 180's
8. TS FS 360 (Pretty Consistent...can't grab yet)
9. TS R2R (I landed one several years ago but that was all until this year. Now I've landed many but still have a problem leaving early.)

So that's a basic run down. I used to do raley's but torn ligaments in my knee 3 years ago and haven't tried any since. I get the urge sometimes...but not strong enough to try them again! So as you can see I'm a little heavy on HS tricks. I would really like to learn another TS invert so I guess that would be a frontroll or scarecrow. I've tried some a few years ago, but haven't felt my technique was strong enough to get them much less be consistent.

So my goal is to work on the crow...starting this weekend! What other tricks should I be working on? Any ideas of what to do next would be extremely helpful. You can see I don't have a HS FS 3...that's because that trick has wrecked me too many times to count. I can do them off of rollers and kickers but not w2w.

Thanks for the suggestions and reading my post!

Definetly TS frontroll/scarecrows

hows you switch riding? ever considered 1/2 cab roll to follow your R2R.

TS front or straight TS backroll. Crows can sometimes be tricky to land if you dont have your TS trip-flip from the frontroll dialed.

You could also develop your switch HS riding. Since you already understand how HS Roll to Reverts work, if you could develop a good switch edge, then doing a Half Cab Roll should be easy.

If you want something to work on for a while on your toeside, then you can starting working on your BS spins. TS BS 180's can take a while to develop. Also, I am always a big fan of learning to land wrapped (blind). I'd start messing around with that part of your game.

What helped you the most with your toeside edge.

Going to the Wakeboard Camp and also seeing pictures of myself. The position your mind tells you that you're in is often different than reality. Here are a couple of more specific tips that helped tremendously.

1. Lean DOWN THE LINE. I would often break at the waist killing my line load. So now I think about standing tall and leaning down the rope...not towards the wake.

2. Turning the handle vertically upon approach. What this accomplished was getting my chest turned more away from the boat and getting me in a stronger position.

3. Just flat out over-exaggerating the turning of my back towards the wake on my TS approach.

Seeing video or pictures of your TS cuts will help greatly to see what you are doing wrong.

Here is the thread I started that helped me a lot. I need to get a new picture because my form is now tons better than the last update in May since I've had all season to practice.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/322434.html

jarret, i saw that you can do hs bs in the flats and inside to out. i would be hammering this trick hard if i were you. youre almost there. slow the boat down a couple of mph. and try these from outside to inside(passing the handle is much easier). obviously just try to get midway between the wakes. once your comfortable with these start to take them bigger and youll be w2w in no time.

also for the hs fs 3. empty the ballast out of your boat and slow down to about 15-16mph(emptying the ballast will clean up the wake). practice the trick going from inside the wake to outside. the falls wont hurt a bit, i promise. i learned them this way then started doing them from outside to inside the slowly sped the boat up and added ballast until i was going w2w. i spend the entire winter just doing these and bs 180s. i probably threw a few hundred of these while learing the trick. however now i can spin the three off a roller, a wake, ollie, whatever. i feel like i own the trick. give it a go, the slow boat speed will help reduce the tension and make the spin easier.

Thanks for the tips Alan. I had been trying the BS 180 a couple of years ago but got worked HARD a few times and I lost interest. I couldn't get from getting pulled out the front, so I would catch my edge when I was coming down which caused immense pain to my head and neck! Thanks and I might try to start giving them some work again.

Yeah, the HS 3 really doesn't seem that hard. I've been able to do them off ramps and rollers but not w2w. I think I fall into the fatal crowd of throwing them too early. When I wait, then I don't seem to complete the rotation. Maybe I just need to get stronger and pull harder! I know for my TS 3's it really helped me to really think about being strong with the handle and keep it in tighter than I thought I needed to.

Thanks again and stay tuned!

P.S. I had my first really bad wreck doing o/a 180's this past weekend. Now I'm a little gun shy but they are fun to do!

jarret do you ride with a helmet? after getting worked on a simple 180 a few years ago i started to ride with one. i used to just ride with it while i was trying new stuff, now i ride with it all the time. ive never taken a hit to the head with the helmet that even came close to the smacks ive taken without it.
again slow the boat way down with both the bs 180 and the 3. when you fall you basically just fall into the water and no smacking. good way to build confidence. keep us posted

No helmet here. It might be worth checking into though. Honestly it isn't my head that I'm worried about though. I've taken some really bad crashes and never been knocked out. The main thing I don't like is what the edge catches from the BS 1 and HS 3 do to my neck. It's like I've torn my neck muscles and can't turn my head for a week each time it happens. We all have bad crashes and get sore, but the pain in my neck is overwhelming in these types of wrecks for me!

Thanks again for the tips. I'm buying a house so my riding time is about to suffer greatly!
