Personally.....JL!!

I would stick the the JL 12-W3, its what I run in my boat, just as loud as poeple running two subs. The Kicker is also a great sub, but the differance will be the 12" will be louder than the 10".

I would go with JL over Kicker.

For those looking for the optimal sub setup, we have used Image Dynamics IDMAX 12" on our last two demo boats. These subs can handle over 1,000 watts and have dual voice coils.

Image Dynamics wins most of the car audio competitions because they are faithful to the music while extremely efficient (violent SPL).

We use two of the 12", 4 ohm, dual voice coil version wired at 1 ohm. We are powering these two subs with a Tru Technology H-1 Hammer mono amp that is rated at 1,500 watts at 1 ohm (probably over 2,000).

We already offer the Tru H-1 Hammer amp at Wakeside.

http://www.wakeside.com/page/W/PROD/tru_technology_amplifier/tru_technology_h_1

We will offer the Image Dynamics IDMAX within the next week or so.

We truly believe this is the optimal sub design. Anyone interested in upgrading you subs, check it out.

Mike

(Message edited by wakeside1 on March 12, 2005)

image dynaimic idq for class d amps under 500 watts
or need small enclosure

image dynaimic idmax for class d amps over 750 watts and have room for larger enclosure ( can also do free-air)

Clubmyke - I agree.

Image Dynamics recommends 1.5 cubic feet for the 12 inch IDMAX in a sealed enclosure. We put two 1.5 cubic foot enclosures on our boat - one under the dash in front of the driver (behind the original foot rest) and the other in the passenger compartment. You need 2.5 cubic feet for ported enclosures.

With the IDQ, you can drop the enclosure size down to 1 cubic foot for the 12 inch sub, 2 cubic foot for a ported enclosure.

If you can afford it, the Tru Technology class AB amp will outperform a class D amp - but they are expensive. The Tru H-1 Hammer is a class AB amp.

Diamond Audio has the clearest and deepest subs I've heard. Check them out.
