Big thanks to Gid and Jason for inviting me out to ride earlier this week! We had a blast and everyone was riding really well, the water was smooth, but COLD! I think Air and water temp combined was 99-101 so, the 100 rule applied! Water was like 51 and air was probably 48-50. Not too bad but initially it was cold! Thanks again guys for having me out...Hopefully we can do it again this week...I have a feeling the weather is gonna get a lot better!!! Here are some pics!

<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/100933.jpg" alt="The CG!!! tparider 02-27-2004 3:37 PM

Nice pics.

Yeah, that wake is looking stacked.

depswa 02-27-2004 6:59 PM

2000 Malibu VLX with a lot of weight. Two 350s in the back, another sack in front of the back seat (I think it was a 350?), MLS, a 150 in the Bow, and a bunch of sandbags. Not sure how much in sand, but it was definitely a great fun wake with a nice little kick at the top. Gid would be a better source for the info...Gid how much you runnin'?

skydog96 02-27-2004 7:13 PM

its not that big..

deepstructure 02-27-2004 8:14 PM

lol sky

yearling 02-27-2004 8:18 PM

Dude you guys are lucky.. Hahaha here the combined temp is like 15. 20 degrees outside and solid ice for the water. When that ice melts im gona be out there wakeboarding. No offence but that is not true shrivlage... Negative 50 Degrees... Thats Minnesota shrivlage.

liveoz 02-27-2004 9:12 PM

Dan,

I don't know what you rode with that day but the typical Gid setup is:
550 in each ski locker
550 in the middle locker
550 in the bow
250 in front of the back seat
250 along each gunnel
plus a few sandbags here and there.

My new ballast settup should be done next week, let's ride.

blabel 02-27-2004 9:43 PM

Holy shirt man do you have to get to the lake 2 hours early?

whazzup 02-27-2004 11:40 PM

Okay here are the facts on my ballast system:
2-500lbs in back lockers
1-500lbs in the middle of the boat
300lbs in sand under the rear seats
300lbs in sand under the bow seats
500lbs in the center MLS (not original MLS, but modified to hold more weight)
250lbs sack in the bow on top of the cushions.

Total-2850lbs or so.

Blabel, most of the ballast is plumbed in so it takes only about 15 mins to get everything full.

Skylar, why dont you tell everyone who did your ballast system for you. You ungrateful punk!

jonb 02-28-2004 7:48 AM

it must be nice to have the lake all to your self

paulsmith 02-28-2004 9:14 AM

No wedge Gid?

greatdane 02-28-2004 10:12 AM

Paul, the wedge was not available on the 2000 VLX.

paulsmith 02-28-2004 10:16 AM

Ah, right.

Anyone know how much weight it takes in a VLX with the wedge in order to get what Gid's getting out of 2850 lbs?

bill 02-28-2004 11:18 AM

the pic in my profile is a friends 2002 VLX with wedge down, stock mls ,and 250 lbs sacks on each side of the engine and 600lbs in the nose..probrably one of the top three wakes ive ever seen and rode on..ive been behind a lot of the top boats with all kinds of weighting and i know the difference between good wakes and awesome wakes..this weighting burns some gas but its worth the result ,clean huge rock solid wall of water

Disclaimer:BTW i own a Supra launch and love my wake so oppinion is unbiased for sure..

heres the pic again

bill 02-28-2004 11:25 AM

Oh yea there were 6 guys on the boat as well

so thats 900mls ,1100 in sacks=2000 and the wedge .6 guys avg weight about 175=1050 so a real total people, ballast and gear 3500 lbs ..

Gid how many were with you that day..i like your wake a lot but i think the new VLX is a bit better shape and kick to it with the new wedge etc..but thata IMO .althouhg i woulodnt turn downa pull behind either

jonb 02-28-2004 5:20 PM

bill that wake is insane

whazzup 02-28-2004 6:17 PM

Bill, there were only 2 in the boat that day. I could add more weight and still plane but the motor sucks up gas like crazy.

Andre, I could probably add the wedge but I think my steering capabilites would be very limited since I dont have the new gorilla tracking fins.

I thought the new VLX has the same exact hull as mine.
