If your looking for another reference set up for wake surfing here’s my “success” story…

After several attempts with a variety of equipment I finally have been able to wakesurf without the rope. The successful combination for me, at 6’2”, 220 lbs was: A Centurion Lightning, full center ballast, full port ballast, empty starboard ballast, light-weight teenage daughter driving (starboard side), son in the port bow (about 140 lbs) wife on port side opposite the driver (weight classified), Broadcast 5.6, wakesurf rope, and Perfect Pass set to 8.2 to 8.5 MPH. Compared to how some boarders are weighting their boats this setup seems minimal but was good enough for me to get started.

For now I just drop the rope and let it lie in the water at my feet. If I fall behind I just reach down and grab the rope. I’m not sure I’d do that with a regular rope though.

In earlier attempts we put all the weight (other riders) in the back and port side of the boat, but recently we found that weight was also needed in the front.

I tried the following equipment without much success:
Old-old Skurfer
O’Brian Black Magic kneeboard
Trip 143
