Company Board. What size should I be riding?

I picked up a 2009 Recruit 135 for $140 brand new. Couldn't pass that deal up so I bought it.

I'm 5' 11" 165 lbs. Intermediate / Beginner. Currently riding a Hyperlite 137 Era. Rides good.

Is the 135 too small for me? Does 2 cm (from old board to new board) really make a difference?

Would you guys sell this board and buy a new one or would you just ride it?

(I really don't like the look of the 09 recruit 139, but I like the 09 severance 138).

I would go even bigger than 138/139

I'm 5' 10", 170lbs, and ride anything between 128 and 144 (having equally as much success/fun on all sizes)... size is preference more than anything else.

At 165lbs, 135 should be great - give it a ride, and let us know it feels!

Will it affect performance at all?

I feel that my Murray 135 is a little on the small side for me, what would I notice the most by going to a larger board? I'm 5'8 190.. (time to lose weight).

I actually don't think size makes that much difference unless you are going from a 135 to a 145. I have a 136, 138 and a 140 board and to be honest its not the size that I think makes much difference. We're talking centimeters. I line all of them up and the difference is so negligible that personally I don't think it matters much. I'm 5'5" and around 165 usually. I think the shape/construction is where it matters. For $140 bucks I would ride it anyway. You can't beat that price and that is one sick board. I really enjoyed it when I rode it. If anything ride it and if it feels to small sell it. I'm sure you'll get your money back.

Ya, I lined up an old 135 next to my 137 today and I could hardly tell the difference.

Hell 2cm is less than an inch...

& the Recruit 135 is .74 cm wider (Mid Width) than my Era 137.

I'm thinking the difference is going to be negligible.

flex boards do ride pretty small, mostly because of their super thin construction. Just like a surf board, the thicker the rail, the higher it will float you in the water. Since flexboards are so thin, most people ride them slightly larger rather than slightly smaller.

Well my Recruit came yesterday!

Threw it on top of my old 137 ( http://www.wakeworld.com/products/in...detail&p=55311 ) and as far as I can tell its basically the same size.

Think they are counting those little tabs that stick out on the tip & tail.

Not to mention the Recruit definitely wider at tip and mid.

Man this new Company Board is light Compared to my ERA!!

Recruit 135 - 7lbs 6oz Approx

ERA 137 - 9lb 9 oz Approx

Hi Nick,

I am 5'11" and ride the Recruit as well - but I ride the 143. I was on the 138 Severance before but that felt too small for my tastes. I get the feeling that you probably want to go up one size in flex boards over regular construction. But in the end its down to your taste.

I found going to a bigger board meant I could get a proper stance for my height, and the board pops and lands better. Trade off is a small amount of weight that you might notice spinning but I got used to that pretty quick.

By the way, you will LOVE the recruit. Such an awesome board!
