Do you own a gun or guns?

Just curious given recent national news.

ottog1979 12-17-2012 10:46 AM

Someone wanna help me with my poll? I wanted to be able to answer more than one if yes.

12-17-2012 11:14 AM

What if you have all three?

durty_curt 12-17-2012 11:22 AM

yeah this poll is a little off to how you may vote. it should just be a yes or no or multiple answers

ottog1979 12-17-2012 11:35 AM

I own two of the three. But hey, what can I say... this is the first time I tried a poll. I blew it.

calexan 12-17-2012 11:39 AM

I also own 2 of 3 and multiples of the 2 types. Yea! Merica!

rdlangston13 12-17-2012 1:55 PM

I own 3 pistols, 4 rifles, and 1 shotgun

pierce_bronkite 12-17-2012 2:07 PM

You forgot hand grenades.

augie_09 12-17-2012 2:13 PM

this is my rifle..this is my gun

jarrod 12-17-2012 2:37 PM

3 shotguns, 3 hand guns and 2 rifles, with a new one on the way.

jarrod 12-17-2012 2:39 PM

By the way, my last two trips to the gun shop were interesting. The line to buy a firearm was nearly out the door at both stores. Normally, I'd see 1-3 people in the shops.

stephan 12-17-2012 3:28 PM

My answer is YES.

I've been contemplating an AR for years and after reading Feinstein's diatribe from the weekend I think I might have to start making plans sooner than later. Good thing my future BIL is a registered FFL and completing his 'smithing training. Figure if nothing else I'll pick up a lower before insanity takes over.

wake77 12-17-2012 4:23 PM

I have an uzi, an AK, 6 pistols, an M-16, a bazooka, the plasma gun from Ghostbusters, an M-1 Abram tank and ever since I bought them, my penis has grown almost a foot.

Damn. You should create an infomercial, it would be BIG! Haha get it.

Jeremy, I know you are just trying to foment a response. I tend to agree with you on many things, this subject excluded. Some of us, myself included, were raised in households that do not fear guns but view them as tools of recreation that are to be respected and treated with care.

wake77 12-18-2012 10:06 AM

^I don't have a problem with people owning firearms (for the most part). But almost everytime guns get mentioned on this forum, it seems to turn into a peter-measuring contest.

Jeremy, it seems you were the one to up the ante and bring the peter into the discussion. As much as the discussion, it could be the lens of the viewer. (this holds true for everyone).

I have a 9mm, a 22lr, a shotgun, and I'm going to buy an ar15 lower tonight.

I own a over-under 20g hunting shotgun. It's the perfect weapon for taking down a pheasant and nearly useless for any other purpose. I also own a home defense 12g 18.5" pump shotgun. It's a near perfect weapon for home defense. I am also currently researching handguns to make my initial purchase. So far, I have shot/rented eight different 9mm guns at my local range to learn their pros/cons. In all of my research, I have learned to appreciate and respect guns. IMO, their ownership comes with great responsibility which should include a limits and requirements (e.g. registration, 10 shot max clip, 10 day waiting period, background check, mental competency, and extensive safety training with no exceptions). Geeze, I had to take a 12 hour hunter's safety class to shoot a bird while no training is required to buy a handgun.

wake77 12-18-2012 10:27 AM

^How is that "upping the ante"? A tragedy just occurred because a "responsible gun-owner" let a lunatic get a hold of their firearms. You chose to turn it into an opportunity to get "gun-control" hyperbole started. I shouldn't have even chimed in, but I chose to make a joke. But you know before you bash me for my views (or what you believe my views to be), why don't you ask yourself, "Could the glorification of 2nd Ammendment rights perhaps played a role in this tragedy"? I mean we are quick to blame movies, video games, and TV, but why not the guys boasting how you can legally buy a semi-automatic weapons and clips that can hold excessive amounts of ammo. It seems only fair to me.

plhorn 12-18-2012 10:42 AM

I own a gun but am now all for having the goverment regulate them and start a buy back program.

ottog1979 12-18-2012 10:50 AM

A little touchy? All I asked was "Do you own a gun or guns?" I was interested to see what percentage. That's turning it into an opportunity to get gun control hyperbole started?

Again, the lens of the viewer.

wake77 12-18-2012 11:07 AM

Answer your own question. (This is how you started the thread)

I don't see the problem with talking about this on here. Its the "non-wakeboarding" section and this is being talked about everywhere.

And yes i'm a gun owner. I have no idea how many i own anymore, i keep buying and selling as i lose interest in one thing over another. I believe i have around 30 right now. At this point i have everything from Ar15's to old British Lee-enfields, and German K98's and a couple handguns. I'm Canadian so we have to jump through lots of hoops to buy the fun stuff and lots of stuff like AK's are prohibited. Owning guns in Canada is not a right like you guys have with the 2nd amendment. Self defence is also not considered a valid reason to own a gun. Pretty lame.

norcalrider 12-18-2012 11:58 AM

Yes, shotguns, rifles, but no handguns. And several parts kits and 80% receivers.

guido 12-25-2012 3:00 PM

miniMagic got a .22lr for her 5th birthday. I think that she likes to make targets with balloons at home more than actually going to the range.
