Complete Beginner Looking for a Wakeboard
 

Friend told me to come check this site out for some help. Have found two that caught my eye & wanted to see if you guys could give me any input, suggestions, advice, etc.

I am 5'10, 145 lbs, & have very large feet (women's 11) if that helps with this at all. I'm pretty athletic, but struggle with getting up on a board, so ease of that is my main priority.

Here are the two I am interested.

Hyperlite Eden

Are these good prices? I am hoping to not spend too much. I would gladly look at any other suggestions around this price range or cheaper. Thanks!

My fiance has the Eden and she loves it. I would get nice bindings tho it makes a big difference.

get something you would be comfortable progressing on. I know when I got my first board I looked for something cheap with a beginner shape, but if your riding frequently or at least every weekend then you will move along faster and have to buy a new board within a year or so. It gets expensive!!

Also take a look at the Ronix Krush. My fiance just started riding last year and I picked this up for her at the end of last year. It has a shape which makes it easier to cut on your toeside, which is usually difficult for beginners.

Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages of 130cm to 135cm? I can fit the size requirements for either according to the Eden sizing.

I would shoot for the 135 kate its going to be fit right to your size, a 130 would be way to short for you and harder to learn on

Will : The Eden also has the varible fin configuration spec to make it easier on toeside as well,

Kate: You really cant go wrong with any recent "women" boards they are all configured for a beginer as well as some being able to fit expert riding such as the Ronix "faith hope love" I would also look into ronix boards as well before you make a choice. They are awesome!

I spent one whole month trying to learn to get up on my husband's board. The bindings didn't fit and I'd pop right out of 'em every time. Finally got fed up and bought my own board. I got the Hyperlite Eden and got up first try...and I am sooo NOT athletic. ^^on "get good bindings, they make a difference". I really like my Hyperlite Blurs. I use Closed toe LF Wings in the winter and am always so happy when it's warm enough to go back to my Blurs. I'm 5'3" and rode the 130 Eden...I'd suggest the larger board for someone as tall as you (jealous!!!). Now I ride a 132 Tribute but I still use the Eden to teach new riders and she works every time! Have fun shopping...new gear is always fun!

Agreed with what most said. A longer board for you is going to be best with your height, 135 plus. There are some package deals out there that are board and binding set ups. As you progress you will want the latest greatest stuff. I would not drop big coin on bindings right now, since comfort is your biggest challenge. Many people get up and ride a few times and think they need the latest pro model? I rode the same board for many years and progressed nicely. Ask your local shops to demo,demo, demo. If they are worth a darn they will let you, I can't remember the last time I didn't ride a board before I bought it? Look for last years or the years prior boards. They are right have fun with it.

I'm bias but check out this board?

My Daughter in Law started out with a CWB Sol then went to the Eden.
She loves it and really likes having her own rig.
I am in the "get a comfy pair of bindings" crowd as I think that they are just as important if not more important than the board choice but that's just me.
Have a great time learning to ride and I hope you end up loving the sport as much as most of the rest of us do.
