Is a "marine" amp any more water resistant that a non marine amp? I opened up my Clarion APX-480M and I swear the insides looked identical to a normal amp, just the case was white..

Now channel 4 has burnt on me, and I'm looking at a much higher powered Orion amp..

Anyone have any insight or experience?

Unless you boat in saltwater I wouldnt waste the extra $$$ on a "marine" amp. I've always used car audio and never had an issue. Just keep them in a dry area and you'll be fine.

The Clarion Marine amps are very prone to have the channels fail. Junglesmacks hit it on the head, as long as the amps are protected, and installed in a are in the boat were they wont see water you will be fine
