Which amp for my inboat setup?
I'm planning on buying a new amp for my new in boat setup.
4 WetSounds xs 650 speakers (aka 2 pairs) rms 100 Watts peak 200 Watts And ONE kicker solo baric L7 8" DVC 2 OHM RMS 450 Watts peak 900 Watts I was thinking of going with the WetSounds Syn 6 to power all this but wasn't sure if that would be over kill. What would you guys recommend? |
The Syn-6 would not be overkill at all. I would also consider a Wet Sounds Class-D HT-4 (110W rms x 4 @ 4ohm) for the in-boats and an HT-2 (575w rms x 1 @ 4) for the sub. This would be a tad more to the in-boats and about the same for the sub. Or, the Kicker Class-D IX500.4 (75W rms x 4 @ 4 ohm) for the in-boats and the IX500.2 (500w rms x 1 @ 4 ohm) for the sub. Theres probably half a dozen other hi-efficiant amp options out there as well, these are just a couple that came to mind.

wow thx for that info! Rather than using two amps to do the job, is there one amp that could do the job of two? (thats why i was leaning towards the syn 6)
|
Syn-4 = 100W rms to each XS-650 and 400W rms to your sub.
|
what would be a good configuration if i did go syn 6?

Quote:
Syn-4 = Port side pair in-boats wired in parallel on chnl 1, stbd side pair in-boats wired in parallel on chnl 2. Sub wired in series and bridged on chnls 3/4. |
Your knowledge is well respected and appreciated! Thank you for the input and help Tigé Mike! I think i may stay with the Syn 6
