Looking for a boat. HELP!!
 

I am in search for a boat. Which boat would you pick that would fit all of my needs the best? Our family likes to surf, board, and tube. Not so much into skiing. We would like something that has an awesome wake! I have not decided if I would like a new or used boat either. I am not brand loyal yet, so that does not matter. The only thing that matters is the boat CAN NOT be over 21' swim platform does not count if it is "detachable." This is going to be used on a private lake and 21' or less is the rule. I am just looking for a boat that you think would fit me the best. I have been looking at Moomba as well as Tige, but I am open to all options. I had a Crownline, but want to make the switch. Thanks for the help!

Tige 20v or Tige Z1. I love my 20v. It is a very good all around boat.

i know TIGE makes the 20v and a z1 but not familar with moomba lengths. i have neighbors at the lake that have moomba and are happy with it . i have read on threads on wakeworld TIGE owners love their surf wake.also the new TIGE'S have multiple choices on ballast for surf or pro type wake. i think either boat should do you well. it really depends on which one YOU like best since YOU WILL BE MAKING THE PAYMENTS. P.S. i have a friend with a crownline and it's a nice boat too!

An 06 or newer X-2 would be a great boat for what you want. Great surf wake and top 5 wakeboarding wakes plus it has more interior room than just about anything else out there under 21' and it is only 20'.

how deep is the private lake?

Im biased but my vote for a sub 21' boat would be a centurion falcon v it is huge for sub 21' boat it is 20' 8" long and has a 102" beam it surfs well and the wakeboard wake is stealer with the blade and some Extra ballast..here are a couple pics

the old x stars/x1's are less than 21 feet long. Great wakeboarding wake.

go to TIGE.COM and check out the Z1 with the alpha tower and 2000 lbs of factory ballast it's SWEET!

Thank You to all so far for your help. The pics were a huge plus too! I know there are a lot of boats out there, but this is helping me narrow it down a bit, plus in the end I think I have to go with what the wife likes too. The max depth of our lake is 70' on one end. If anyone else has pics or would like to throw a boat into the mix , that would be great. Thanks again for the help.

I would checkout the MB team widebody. If I were looking for a 20 foot boat that could do it all, that would be it.

Just thought I'd mention Nautique is going to release a 20' v-drive soon. I don't have much more info than that. It supposedly is a great ski/wakeboard/surf boat, but time will tell. Not saying you have to go with a nautique, all of the boats mentioned here will get the job done. I personally am waiting to see how this 200 Sport (why they didn't go with the super sport name since it's a v-drive is beyond me) performs before I decide on a boat.

The old XStar X2 X1 (205v) is not a 20ft boat. Its actually 21'6" I own one thats without the swim platform. Are you buying brand new or used? So I think you have a good list and depends on where you are in the country as well. I am in Florida and have never seen and MB but in your shoes would be willing to look at one as well. I like the pure vert system. The Tige Z1 is not a 20ft boat either. So I think your at this list Tige 20v (they do have a pickel fork version coming) Moomba Outback V, 2006 or newer MC X2, Centurion Falcon, MB widebody, Axis is coming out with an A20, and this new Natique I have not heard about. If your buying new and not in a hurry I would wait to see what the TIge and Axis will look like and price out at. If you have cash wait to see what the Natique will be. If your buying used then your list shrinks a bit and will depend on your needs. Actually all those 20ft boats listed are big inside for 20ft boats all have beams at least 98".

SAN, old or new are 21 ft.

if you read the original question it states boat 21' without swim platform. the Z1 is 21 feet with the platform. try tige.com they might know the size of their own boat as they do make them.:rolleyes:

Mark did you get out and physically measure the boat because my family had the same hull 2001 x star and it was 20' 6" without the platform

Just sent you a PM on a boat here Omaha Nebraska. 2003 MasterCraft X2 with MC tandem trailer.

I have a Sanger V210. The boat is 20'-8" without the swim platform. Not too many people have seen a Sanger unless you are on the west coast. My Sanger is a 2007 V210 Wake Series. It has the traditional U shape seating and throws a mean wake. It has front and real ballasts. The Sangers are known for a high quality boat with a lower price tag. Look for a Sanger V210. www.sangerboats.com

agreed Sanger v210's are one of my favorite wakes it's like a hybrid of a san and x1 and doesn't take a ton of weight which is good because it has a pretty low freeboard.
Sangers are built like tanks very good quality boat with less bling.

Sorry Jeff when I responded I was thinking you needed 20ft without platform my fault. So an MC X1,X2,XStar(205v hull) and SANTE 210. Both INCREDIBLE wake machines. Leaves a bit to be desired as far as hitting rough chop or rollers. Matthew is your 22ve 22ft long with or with out the platform. Looks like on the spec sheet TIge puts boat length without platform. That would make the 20v actually about 18ft long and Z 19ft. Either way at 21 ft the Z1 will work too. So he can add 3 more boats. If I was buying new and leaning Tige I would still wait for the RZ1 or the reworked pickel fork 20V and also the A20 from Axis. Sorry been drinking and watching porn most the day.

You guys are awesome on this forum!! I have a lot of good stuff to look at. I am not sure yet if we are going to buy new or used. Just depends what I find. I think I am going to go to some of the dealers around me too. I live in IL so there are some places to go check out boats.

You could not have picked a better time to get into an inboard. Many companies and dealers are in serious trouble. Bummer? Not if you are buying.

Right now unique opportunities exist that make buying a new boat with new warranties cheaper than people's used boats that are worth less than they paid for them while their notes are still high.

If you want a quick education on inboards, I would be happy to teach you what to look for. I understand hull design, matching needs to the right boat, and focus on buying manufacturer's boats that are new, with new warranties, and aged...saving you ten's of thousands.

lol I have a 2000 x star. I've never took a tape measure to my boat but according to my title and the mastercraft website. 20'7" I dont know where you came up with 21'6".
edit- oh nevermind, I see someone posted the same thing I said.

You totally contradicted yourself. Tige shows the lengths without the platform, like you stated above. That makes the 20v 20' and the Z1 21'. Maybe I'm misreading your post but, I wanted to clarify that.

Yeah AJ I saw that to, I think the only thing that Mark got right was the part about drinking most of the day.
