currently looking for a wakeboard boat...leaning towards ordering a new vtx.... canadian dollar is pretty strong... so new is an option right now... Ispec is ok but nothing compares to pics of other peoples boats in the water or on the trailer...

polarbill 01-09-2008 8:40 PM

go to bakesmarine.com and check out what they have in stock. They are the Malibu dealer in the Seattle area. Might give you some ideas.

Make a driver 30 minutes north and buy the new Svfara SV3..

Erik did a fairly nice write-up on the VTX.... There are a few photos in there as well. <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardreport.com/archives/2007/05/a_malibu_wakesetter_vtx_found.html" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardreport.com/archives/2007/05/a_malibu_wakesetter_vtx_found.html</a>

Thanks hehateme but i'm not looking for a 24 foot boat

hamkj 01-09-2008 9:29 PM

Go to Summerland and tell them to hurry up and make you the first 21ft Epic! Or I can hook you up with a WakeCraft!

koop 01-09-2008 9:42 PM

I've tested moomba, supra, centurion, mc, and malibu, looked at the epic in summerland but think i'm gunna go with the vtx... u heard good stuff about epic?

EJ - "fairly nice". DUDE. That was wakeboarding journalism worthy of a Pulitzer <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Ok so VTX pixs... <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/533720.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/533721.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/533722.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/533723.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>My take: <BR>Absolutely great boat. Seemed roomier than my SAN despite being smaller in length. Strengthened my position on the recent Malibus as being solidly now a permanent member of the elite 3, top tier wake boats. Personally if I went with a Malibu it would be 247 (basically because I prefer the gigantor boats, I love the general vibe of Malibus these days). The VTX needs more weight than what is offered stock and I'll push for it this summer with my buddys 2008 VTX he took delivery of a few months ago. But overall and even in terms of crossover appeal - great boat. A Wakeboard Report Best Buy if you will. <BR> <BR>As for the Epic - yes everyone has heard good things about them. But where are they - I've still never seen one yet despite being a pretty outspoken supporter early on. Why are they over 72k now? I have concerns there. Still admire what they are up to but they need to get them out in front of people who are not in these limited districts and fix up the weakening opinions on what I presume is a phenomenal boat. <BR> <BR>Back to VTX - thumbs way up. And I say that as an often overly enthusiastic Correct Craft fan. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by juniorhawk on January 09, 2008)

Take a look on Wakeside rides as well. Here is the link to my boat. I think there are 20 VTX's on there right now. <BR><a href="http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/index.php?page=out&amp;id=2905" target="_blank">http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/index.php?page=out&amp;id=2905</a>

They have already rolled a few Epic's out of Summerland. <BR> <BR>I would look down south. Boats are a hell of a lot cheaper in the states then they are up here in Canada. The market isn't as flooded.

Erik thanks for the pics...gotta tell u it's a little refreshing to hear a guy with a CC complement a malibu... only been posting for a couple days on this site, but can't believe all the my boat is better than yours (BS). Personally for me (Beginner/Intermediate) it's about getting on the water. Got a wife and 2 small kids (oldest is 2 years 3 months) I can only hope my families skill level surpasses our boats capabilities. Then we will get one of the monster boats everyone is raving about. Right now all I need is a decent crossover boat. Pains me to say it, but i'll probably spend most of my time pullin my girls around on a tube!

It sounds like you have the Malibu on your mind. So if you don't mind traveling call the guys at Wizard Lake Marine in Calmar, Alberta. It is just outside of Edmonton. They have been very good to deal with. Also check out their website they had 3 2007n VTX's on the used section. I have been up there recently and they had a a lot of the 2008 boats on the lot already. There is a killer 2008 VTX something like mine ut with the colors on different sections, it also has a white illusion tower that really sets it off. Good luck and enjoy. BTW you guys get all the good weather up here?

Nice photoshop work Deuce!

Trent already been to wizard as i work on the rigs in alberta...prices are considerably lower than dealers in B.C.... guys were super helpful and very knowledgable... actually went to check out their used vtx and vlx selection in person...that's when I learned that I could load up a vtx and choose my own colours for only about 4-5 grand more(plus extra tax) than buying used.... even got wifey to ok it! Think I gotta take advantage of the dollar... who knows how long it'll last. Canadians should definately enquire about new before they purchased used ...to me it's worth spending another 5 to get exactly what I want (colors/options). In my opinion for the amount of cake u spend on boats, u don't want to wish this colour was that colour or wish it had this or that option. A problem i've encountered while looking used the past 6 months.

trentj6930 01-10-2008 8:47 PM

I just bought mine there a while ago. It had a total of 20 hours on it. When I priced out the new one it was about 10 difference for what I got. I think I got a great deal on a very nice boat. I haven't seen any others out there with the color combo we've got. Good luck and let us know what you buy. I spent the past several years pulling my young girls on tubes. Although they both learned to ski at around 3 years old. Being in Penticton you should get lots of great boating weather. Us dummies in Alberta dream about the Okanagon.

Chad Kupczyk (koop) Thanks. I am a Correct Craft owner now and always have been but I love what Malibu is doing and the Malibu 247 is my 2nd favorite boat, the MasterCraft CSX 220 is my third favorite. I'm super brand agnostic when it comes to the newer models. I get more opinionated when you go back 5-10 years because there was much more division between the good and the pretenders in that time period. <BR> <BR>I know about the bashing you talk of. In that regard I am kind of weird. I really like Malibu, I really like MasterCraft, I really like Correct Craft, I really like what Supra is trying to do, I really dislike Tige and I am frighteningly indifferent to almost every other brand despite getting their press releases and knowing what they're up to. Strange huh? <BR> <BR>Anyway - the Malibu VTX is just an amazing boat. It makes so much sense for people in need of a garage-friendly boat and feels like so much boat in a "small" package. I hate even saying "small" about that boat having come from the Ski Nautique 2001 world. None of these v-drives could ever feel THAT small to me. The VTX is just extremely well apportioned - easy to drive, I could go on and on. Fantastic boat.

mikeski 01-11-2008 6:33 PM

Another CC owner here... <BR> <BR>The VTX is a great boat, like Erik, my buddy has one too. I thoroughly enjoy driving, riding, and surfing behind the boat. <BR> <BR>If my boat went up in flames tomorrow, there could likely be a VTX in my stable to replace it. <BR> <BR>I am also agnostic when it comes to brands, although CC strengths tend to parallel my boat needs slight better than others. That said I am not a fan of the new 210/220/230 styles with transformer interiors, that could change with more exposure. I would also give the MC215 a try before signing the deal on a new boat to replace my 211.
