buddy is thinking of buying this boat

Here is a link to a boat that a friend of mine is thinking of buying. What do you all think? I don't have any experience with Tige but from what I gather, those that have them, love them. Any idea what this boat might weigh? Most of the time he'll be using his Cummins to tow but I guess he's thinking every once in a while he might tow it with a Dodge Nitro.... |
I've always liked the seating in the 22i, and it is wide. The price seems high for a 7 year old Tige at the end of the season but I'm not that up on the pricing so take someone else's info on that.
Maybe a Tige expert would know, but didn't they change the hull design after sometime after 2003? |

I think this one might be a little better for him... just because it is smaller and probably easier to tow. |
I am sure it is a nice boat but what is he going to use the boat for? If he would rather have a vdrive there are some really good options in the seattle area.

Towing a 5000 lb boat & trailer with a Nitro is a mistake if your going very far or over any big hills.
Anything over 3500 lbs, your supposed to use an Equalizer, which is a PITA to setup, even for a short trip. |
He should definitely go with a V drive.
|
that seating does look pretty damn nice

Careful of this one, found some issues when I looked at it. |
Unfortunately, I can not see the pics here at work, but $26,250 for a 7 year old direct drive in this economy in September, NO WAY!
|
As an owner of a old DD and a huge fan of wakeboarding and wakesurfing I would HIGHLY recommend getting a V-Drive. 1) wake 2) storage. Then again it all depends on what you are planning on using it for. If you say wakeboarding and surfing 100% of the time......V-Drive. I can't wait to upgrade in to one.

Why did they put that big hump in the middle of the passenger compartment ;)
|
Drive to Wisconsin, I've got a boat for ya.
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...953333957.html but as an old DD owner - current v-drive... i promise that in 2/3 years your friend WILL want a v-drive and be selling that boat to get one |

I TOTALLY AGREE! I have had a D-Drive for the past 6 years, it was my first boat. But, since then I have been on many boats and wish I had a V-Drive. I will definetely purchase a V-Drive next time. If he buys the D-Drive he will be regretting it. |
Of the links I posted I would have your buddy seriously consider that Sanger V215 if he can deal with yellow. That is a great price on a great boat. The boat is loaded as well. I live close to Magnolia so I could go give the boat a quick check and take some pics if you want me to before your friend drives all the way up.
The Moomba Mobius V is a great boat for the price. You won't find a better wake and interior room for the price. I had a 2000 Mob V and other than mine being kind of beat on I loved it. The Mobius XLV would be a great choice for it's wake making ability, size, storage, etc but the one I posted is kind of beat on probably. My friend use to own that boat and all he did was party in it and it was his first boat. If the Wakesetter is in good shape that is an a great price for a great boat. The V210 Is a great wakemaking, well built boat and is small/light so would be easy to tow. Downfalls are that it is low profile and doesn't have as much interior room as some of the others. The XTi is a good boat but along the lines of that Tige you originally posted. It is capable of throwing a great wake but has the less than desirable direct drive layout. |
As the owner of a newer D-drive I promise you that in 2/3 years I WILL want to keep my D-drive and not be selling it to get a V-drive. :)
Sorry, I couldn't resist, I like 'em. But I am willing to admit I'm not normal. |
Sweet deal!!! Thanks for the heads up. I just bought it!!!
|
Tige and TAPS are a freaking joke, plain and simple. Carry on.

All-
Thank you for all of the research and constructive replys. I have passed all of this information on to my friend and have recommended that he create his own user name and frequent this site often. Choosing a wake boat is very difficult because there are so many variables. So many options. I have only been boarding for two seasons now so I certainly am not the guy to help him out, since I've only riden behind one boat. I have given him as much information as I can so hopfully he will end up with a nice boat at a decent price Thanks again to all of you who put forth the effort and gave constructive information. |
