I'm looking at an '02 Moomba Outback and a '00 Supra Launch. Both have ballast. The Supra has 325 hrs. w/ 310 HP and the Outback has 290 hrs. and an upgraded 320 HP EFI engine. Both priced about the same. Which boat do you think makes more sense?

If you are just looking to wakeboard, go for the Launch-much better wakeboarding wake. Outback is a nice but but it is mainly for slalom.

i have an outback and love it. No problems in 5 years. BUT it is not a wakeboard boat. If I had a choice, I'd get the Supra, no question. Both made by Skiers Choice. But Moomba is their price point boats. If you want to get better at wakeboarding, get the Supra. If you like skiing, and don't mind lower quality interior, get the Moomba. Hopes this helps!

Launch is considered by many to have the best wake of all direct drives

If I were in your shoes I would go with the launch. Like said before it has a great wake for a DD. I have an 03 outback and it has a pretty good wake when weighted with 2000#s, But with that much weight in the supra it would be a big wake.

I talked to the guy with the Supra again. He said it only has 205 hrs. on it and he would probably sell it for $21,000. Does this seem like a reasonable deal?

go for the launch, i had an outback and it was a good boat, but i would rather the launch.

bradenb12 04-19-2006 11:36 AM

You think $21,000 is cool? Thats a lot of money!

entrustclothing 04-19-2006 11:40 AM

honestly i have no clue? i don't know the value of it, i would check it out at www.nada.com

for a new launch youd be looking at about $35k probably

bradenb12 04-19-2006 11:46 AM

I think they are in the $40,000's now.

showtime 04-19-2006 12:02 PM

in hte 40's for sure -- i'd love to find a new one for 35 ---

bradenb12 04-19-2006 12:04 PM

no doubt!

bradenb12 04-19-2006 12:06 PM

Average retail on a 2000 is $23,290 according to NADA

entrustclothing 04-19-2006 1:08 PM

then i would say $21000 is a good price if it's in good shape
