you need to learn how to edge. and don't blame it on your equipment, it's you ;)

boardergirl128 08-23-2002 11:47 AM

I do edge it but I think not hard enough?
and I think its my fins because there surf dogs, and there meant for just riding inside the wake. I think Ineed carving fins

Try standing tall at the wake. Body position is essential. Don't absorb the wake with your knees. Hold your edge all the way through the wake. When in the air, spot your landing then look for the opposing shoreline.

Katie,

Don't get frustrated. It takes time.

There are a few keys to getting good air...progressive cut, standing tall, body and handle position. Refer to this:
http://www.wakeworld.com/Tricklist/TrickTip009.asp

Read it. Apply it next time you ride.

when your in mid air should you push the handel down??

davidbouvier 08-24-2002 4:01 AM

you can push the handle down if your unbalanced or out of control. if you cut and pop correctly you should land the same way you left the wake. sounds like your breaking at the waste and flattening out before the wake. you can work on your form by only cutting out 5 feet. go slow and work on proper form. when that gets comfortable go out a little furter. It's not just your approach and pop to work on, make sure you coast after cutting out before you cut back in.nKeep constant tension on the rope. enjoy

I know you have heard progressive edge everywhere you research on how to jump the wake. what that means is when you cut into the wake, start gradually and build up speed as you approach. I know when i first started i would go way out, cut real hard, but i would reach my top speed about half way too the wake and then loose all my tension. Build up speed to the wake, you should be accelerating all the way through, and once you are at the very top, push off the top. Think of that and what dave said, you should be able to get it, just stay in control. And about your fins, it's not that, if you are edging right you don't even need fins to jump. (landings, not as easy.)

This might not be ur case but i noticed the same thing the first week i started. I noticed that i was going to slow. At 16 mphs you cant come into the wake with any speed.
