how much power is everyone running to tower boxes with 6X9's and please just tell me how much power your running/getting away with as i know what my speakers are rated to and i know about setting crossovers. The speakers i just got are rated to 100 rms but i know for a fact many people are getting away with alot more CLEAN watts then that.

skibum69 04-29-2005 12:33 PM

I'm running 6.5"s not 6x9"s but I am running a clean 200Watts rms to them with a Diamond Audio amp.

PPI DCX 1000.4 - Fusion T-3 combo (250watts to each side @ 2ohms)

BTW - don't need the loudest stereo on the water, just one loud enough to hear while you ride.

Phaeton, I've got a 450/4 powering my hull speakers and I don't think it's putting out that much power. Are you happy with your 450?

4 memphis audio 6x9's-800 watts

phaeton 04-29-2005 7:52 PM

Tom it is all in how it is wired and what load you are running the amp at. I have 4 6 1/2"s running off two channels and the 8" subs running off the other. One side of the amp puts out more power than the other side. Don't remember how mine is configured but it cranks.

In the boat I have eight 6 1/2"s running off of one 300/4 and it works awesome.

The 450/4 should power your boat no problem.

(Message edited by Phaeton on April 29, 2005)

Hey Ryan,
You say you have an X-80, but in your profile you have a pic of a X-2. How do you afford that at age 18?
Let me know, cause I want a new super air.
ryanbush11 04-29-2005 10:37 PM

the 02 X Star was my first tournament boat, I traded it in last year on the x 80, I just left the picture on on my profile because it has some centimental value
Actually I'm 19 and i don't afford it, I'm a college student but I a father who can afford it. he understands that one day i will be supporting him!!!
here's a picture of my x80

I'm running six 6.5 Pioneer's that are rated 65w nominal, and 100w peak. I power them with a Kicker 800.4, and they sound really good behind the boat.

jnewcom 04-30-2005 5:19 PM

looks like the x-80 beside that house might be worth more than the house! Is that your house?

ryanbush11 04-30-2005 5:27 PM

the boat is at my house at college, and you're right I've proably got 40 grand more in the x80 than the neighbors do in their house!!

Hi Ryan, sorry for the hijack, how does the X80 wake compare to the X-2?

To my tower I have one half of a Crunch V4300 to the rear speakers 225w x2 @ 2 ohm & the other half to the downspeakers 150w x2 @ 4 ohm. Crunch gets slagged far & wide but I'm very happy with there amps & the are excellent value.

monstertower 04-30-2005 10:14 PM

Ryan, let our Dad know that I'm up for adoption That ride is over the top.

ryanbush11 04-30-2005 10:20 PM

Darren,
The wake on the x80 is proably 1.5 - 2.0 times the size of the x2 with just the stock ballast full on both boats, it at 75 feet it's proably 1.5 times as wide also. Hitting it is like running into a 2 and a half foot concrete wall, I would say the the x2 is by far the best of the two, for overall shape, and we ran close to 4000lbs of ballast in it and the size got pretty close.

ralph 04-30-2005 11:21 PM

Thanks Ryan. The X-2 is my second favourite wake, it just needs a lot of weight to get it narly sized.

ryanbush11 05-01-2005 7:50 AM

Darren,
Hows the riding in New Zealand, I was susposed to come over there for a week over christmas but ended up spending an extra week in australia instead, didn't do any riding but got to do quite a bit of surfing and diving. In australia they have a big problem with jelly fish(stingers as they call them) in the rivers, and on the coast. alot of places they won't let people in the water near the beach I was just wondering if you guys had the same problem?

jnewcom 05-01-2005 10:49 AM

Hey Ryan
I just looked at ur profile and saw that u were in AR. Ever go up to Ouchita? Got a couple of buddies I go up there with sometimes. We mostly go up to beaver or norfork, welcome to go sometime if u want.

midwesty 05-01-2005 11:43 AM

hey fellas...where can i get a tower speaker wiring kit that has the rubber grommets included for when u drill the tower and boat? thanks

ryanbush11 05-01-2005 11:47 AM

Ryan,
I have a aunt that has a house about 10 minutes from Ouachita in HSV, but i mostly ride on tenkiller, and beaver. I assume that you go to UA. I enrolled there for this fall. You wouldn't happen to know JJ or Clay Bauman would you, there a couple guys that I ride with up there every now and then.

jnewcom 05-01-2005 12:41 PM

Yeah
I know both of them very well. JJ works at the malibu place, I have a VLX. When we go to ouchita we go with Joseph Meadows. Yell at me next time you come up and go to beaver. jnewcom@uark.edu

ralph 05-01-2005 12:43 PM

NZ riding is good, some places are reputedly the best in the world. No we don't have any problems with nasty creepy crawlies, no snakes, crocs, spiders or jellyfish. If your heading this way again drop me a line, we love entertaining overseas guests.

ryanbush11 05-01-2005 1:29 PM

yea, Joseph used to come over to tenkiller and ride, he's rode a behind my x star, and rode once behind my x80.

My email is ryanbush@cox.net
and my cell phone is 479 414 0152
if you're ever going to be on tenkiller hola at me and we'll ride, or if you're going to be in Fort Smith let me know and we'll go do something
Ryan

ryanbush11 05-01-2005 1:31 PM

Darren, Austalia was an awesome place I'm sure i'll be over there again before too long, I'll praobly head up to NZ next time I'm there.
