Hi guys,

between the two, which one landed softer? Got the chance to pick up an 05 Premier cheap, and a pretty banged up Watson as well. I reckon the Watson should land softer with that pronounced v-hull on it, but the Premier is quite attractive as well. If the difference isn't large, I'd rather go for the good-conditioned Premier.

Thanks for your input people.

I ride the 05 premier, and I dont think the landings are too hard, but i havent ridden that many boards or the watson for that matter.

Watson by far!

nickdakoolkat 09-29-2006 4:29 PM

whats wrong with the watson you are looking at? Personally I love my Watson, it has soft landings. Overall this board has sick pop, has just the right amount of speed, and has the sickest graphics ever.

I'd agree for the 06

The Watson I'm looking at has hit the sliders pretty hard. Couple of chips at the sides, V-hull is very very obvious since its all white! all that is fine, but one fin is pretty mashed in as well.

The Premier on the other hand looks pristine.

Well, gonna demo them sometime this week and we'll see. Thanks though. But subjectively, between the Premier and Substance? Premier?

the substance and watson are different boards. the subjstance is his old pro model. which one are you talking about

fbricard 09-30-2006 12:51 AM

I'm talking about the Substance vs Premier. I know the Substance was Watson's old board, I used to ride it. I'm asking all this for my wife.

IMO the premier has the least soft landings of all the boards I've tried. And I have the three you're asking about, in order of soft landings would be 1. Watson, 2. Substance, 3. Premier
Wouldnt get her the Watson if it had seen lots of sliders... But would wait a little more for the 06 prices to go down to get her one that suits her.

Watson hands down. I ride a premier and tried a watson a couple times lately and love everything about it. Landings are real soft, has good pop, and handling is sweeeet.

Is your wife going huge? If she's at a beginner level how soft a board lands doesn't have near as much effect. As much of a Liquid Force advocate as I am, you want something that is going to last. A board that has been beaten on sliders has had it's life reduced.

fbricard 09-30-2006 11:10 AM

Aint a beginner no more, thats the main reason why I'm looking for a new board for her. She's used her LF Diva all season and has grown out of it.

Had a good close look at the Watson and its really pretty worn down so gonna forget about it.

Picked up the Premier to demo it from the guy and it looks alright, but I see what you mean Cris that its the hardest of the three, I remember the Substance was not as flat a bottom as this. Only issue with the Premier now is that there is this long line running down it, its one of those slider base versions so its got that rubbery feel to it. I'm not sure if its a crack or a scratch in that rubbery material with no structural damage. Will get some good macro shots of the thing and post it up asking for opinions on that.

Regardless, thanks everyone for your comments & help.

(Message edited by fbricard on September 30, 2006)
