bought a couple pair this christmas. Could anyone measure exactly where the factory installs these so I can put them in the same place? thanks.

Any reason you want them in the same place? I would look at your boat tied up to a dock or another boat and put them where you actually need to put a fender to keep your boat off the dock or another boat. They will be much more helpful there, I wish I had done this first on the X-2 I had. I ended up having to put ropes or bumpers off of tower legs all the time.

I really want them to look like they were factory. if anyone could measure I would really appreciate it.

Ask your local dealer. I am sure they would be more than glad to help you out!

Not all cleats will be in the same spot. They could be close but not always in the same spot. They are drilled by hand, not a machine.

xmcmillenx 01-02-2010 11:53 AM

didnt know that. does anyone know where they "try" to drill them?

The widest point of the boat is around the windshield area. Both of the 23lsv here seem to be mounted about 6" behind the gas cap. The front ones are mounted just behind the top of the windshield. Sorry, I don't have a VLX here right now. Good luck.

I will measure later today when I get home.

xmcmillenx 01-03-2010 6:47 AM

awesome, thanks.

The rear is 14.5 inches from center of gas cap to center of cleat. The front is 45 inches from the rear of the windshield. I emailed you a picture of mine.

xmcmillenx 01-04-2010 6:01 PM

thanks Jeff. I really appreciate it.

I too have the problem with where mine are mounted. I also have to attach bumpers to my tower. Wish manufactures would look at the details.
