2014 MC X-25 vs. Tige ASR vs. tige z3

I am currently in the search for a new boat and we are deciding between three boats. The family mainly wake-boards but also surfs every once and a while. Our previous boat was the tige z3 and we loved it but it had many issues and the wake could have been better. I recently tested out a Tige ASR (4000lb of ballast) and the wake was huge, I've never got so much air in my life. Loved layout of the boat but I hear so many good things about the x-25. We had the chance to demo x-25 but the wake didn't compare to the ASR but this was with factory ballast. If we went with the x-25 we would add 2,100 pounds of ballast. We want a incredible wakeboard wake and a pretty good surf wake while being reliable. Does anyone have any input that could help me out?

Demo another x25 and bring some bags and pumps with you. That's the only way you'll know for sure if you will like it.

Have you looked into Supra, Malibu, or Natique? They all have surf systems which should fit your requirements.Adding ballast shouldn't be a deal breaker. It sounds like you need to redemo the x-25 with it weighted properly for you to get an accurate opinion of it.

I know you didn't list a Nautique G23 but if you had issues with your past Tige but love the size of the wake then I'd think the G23 would fit you like a glove. I've heard nothing but good things about the G23's and the only issues I've heard of was the drive shaft when they first came out. I checked out the ASR at the boat show and it's still one of my favorites!

there's a thread on here about the ASR goofy surf wake... basically stating that it wont make one.

I'm really glad nautique fixed that defect in the design when they copied the ASR for the G23 ;)

Channeling JetRanger - I love it. Hahaha

I definitely think the new Supras are worth a look. The SA, SC, and new SE are legit

ptrenary 07-29-2014 5:13 PM

The g23 is my boat of choice but it's a little more than I want to pay. Anyone think a weighted x-25 would have a better wakeboard wake than the asr?

Froggy 07-29-2014 5:20 PM

Best wake out there now is a G No extra bags ,pumps or BS . The NSS has 5 adjustments to fine tune the surf wake to the rider. All the boats mentioned are very expensive you should take your time and test them all.

There is no way you can have a X-25 and ASR and say a G is out of your price range...

boardman74 07-29-2014 6:36 PM

^^That depends a lot on dealers and area. I know here you can buy an ASR for 25K less than a G23. Not saying one is better or worse but there is a significant price difference here. 25K could easily put it out of reach.

cjh1669 07-29-2014 6:55 PM

Instead of a g23 why not a g21? Closer to the asr price wise, and yes I think the g series is miles ahead of the asr. Not a better fit and finish, wake and technology out there. Asr is nearly as much and not near the level

Adding 2100 pounds to any boats stock ballast should make a noticeable improvement.

Thats true I didnt think of that.

this is probably the best wake you will get out of the x25 when its slammed - http://www.alliancewake.com/wake/del...visitors-pass/

this is a vid of the asr with only stock ballast and a boat full of people (ballast simulated probably around 1500). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij5-awZLA44

personally, slammed vs slammed the asr would have a bigger wake.

tampawake 07-30-2014 7:16 AM

Well its 23' vs 21'6. So smaller boat right there. Chris just curious have you been behind and in and out of an ASR as well as G23 and G21? You may be right in your statements but just like to know how you know this to be fact.

Since the OP is comparing an x25 to the asr, another 21'6 boat, I wouldn't think length would be an issue, and the G21 feels much roomier than the x25. My only exp with the asr, like many, is the boat show, though a friend of mine who is a pro has ridden behind both. he said the asr does have a great wake, but it is weight sensitive like most tiges due to the convex V hull, and he also couldn't get a decent surf wake out of it.

I Ride fairly regularly behind a G21, and the boat is second to none. I bought 14 lsv this year and when my buddy bought his g21 I had buyers remorse to some degree. Fit and finish is the best I've ever seen in a wake boat. Everything is well put together, latches on everything, it's all in places that make sense, and looks luxury. I love the fit and finish in the x25 and the G21 blows it away. The ASR just isn't even close in fit and finish. The wake is everything the asr wake is and more, plus it actually has a good surf wake.

Other things the G21 has over the asr, NSS, a super dialable wake that loves weight, much better tower, and it's the a shorter version of the boat tige copied, though poorly IMO. I just can't see spending over 100k on an asr, I think the Z3 is a much better boat than the asr.

tampawake 07-30-2014 2:31 PM

Chris fair enough. I dont like the LOOKS of these new boats including the G and ASR. Just not my style so thats personal preference. I would be curious to see how the G21 stood up against the CC230. I like the looks of the 210 and 230 better and figured you would get more boat with a 230 over a G21. Just have never seen these boats next to each other. I guess I will see them at Expo this year.

cedarcreek216V 07-30-2014 5:59 PM

I'm a Nautique guy so take it for what it's worth, but I'd buy a 230 before an ASR. Many have said that's Nautiques beat surf boat hands down and it's about $25k less that the G23. Pretty sure the 230 can make any level of wakeboarder happy as well.

tampawake 07-30-2014 6:23 PM

my question was more 230 vs G21 as I gotta think option for option they are close in price. Honestly cant afford either.

I think the G21 is still $15k more than the 230, but not %100 positive on that. Think the 230 can be had for right at or just under $100k and the 21 is pushing $115-$120k.

Man JetRanger must be on vacation.
