Mox, if you do this, PLEASE report your results. I am sick of cleaning my carpet as well. Plus, it is so matted down. I would love to find some alternative. I have thought of replacing it and being more strict about food/drink in the boat, but that wouldn't be very much fun though.

GATOR GRIP <b>NO</b> Hydro Turf <b>YES</b> <BR>Gator Grip has nook's and cranny's for Beer and Human DNA to hide and fester. <BR>Hydro Turf has a smooth flat surface that is easy to clean, Sorry Chris I had Gator Grip on the top of my cooler for a few years. The nooks and crannys were a pain to get clean. I switched to Hydro Turf and it's much easyer to keep and stay clean. I do think the Gator Grip is a thicker better made material Its just harder to keep clean than a smooth surface

Mox, you are a pretty chill boat owner. I would be going nuts. I second the hydro turf for the interior. I do have to say though that Gator Grip is really durable. I have had it on my gunwales for a while now and it still looks good and is in good shape. Looks like you need to protect the vinyl also because of those food fights <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>.

Can they spray Rhino Liner type material in there instead? I had it sprayed in my Jeep and it worked really well. I think those spray in liners come in different colors too...easy to clean and no nooks and cranny's for "human DNA"? Thats funny G - nothing worse then scrubbing that out of your carpets...

Imo bedliner material on bare feet would be brutal, no way. Personally i'd use Seadek on the floor.

I second Seadek. I do not have any experience with hydroturf though. It may be very similar, but Epic uses Seadek along with Malibu and some new Nautiques on the platforms. <BR> <BR>Do not do a spray in bed liner, that stuff will fade and heats up as well on the feet.

seadek will prolly be even easier to clean.

I've seen the Seadek material in the Epics, and I also replaced the material on my swim platform with it. Nice, durable stuff. Should clean up pretty easy.

Dont know about the human DNA issue tho. You may have to use the spray that the strippers use on their poles.

Rich...very good point. I would participate in a food fight with that gal in the green bikini. That stuff has happened on my boat and at the time it's lots of fun. I just grumble after wards when the boat is in the driveway being cleaned. <BR>It's amazing how stuff finds its way into every nook and cranny of your boat.

I'll say this for Seadek it's pretty tuff, a lot more than i expected. I've had a custom platform pad two seasons now and there's only a couple minor marks from boards on it and it cleans up great. Even Shasta red dirt mud comes right off without staining.

fyi, i've been told that the bedliners do not heat up. according to the installers. i'm looking to replace my carpet, and sadly part of my floor, but i have thought about a bedliner-type spray on. i've thought this along with a homemade snap-out carpet kit would be nice and easy. but would love to ponder this hydro-turf idea!

If the bed liner is any other color than white it is going to heat up. Go put your hand on a truck with a black one thats been out in the sun all day.

shaun, i actually have. my buddy's black line-x'd tundra. he was worried too about the heat because of his dogs in the back. i was surprised, but in the long run i'm more worred about the rough surface on my wet feet. it might not be too comfortable.

For what its worth I took some standard marine floor vinyl like we have Lund put in their boats and cut it out to fit the floor in my Sanger. I was going to add snaps and make it snap-in. But after using I noticed the beer and water would just pool up and if not cleaned up right away would just drain along the edge anyway. In hindsight I should have maybe left extra along the sides to fold up but it wouldn't look as clean. It does keep the wear and tear down though.

It does keep the wear and tear down though." <BR> <BR>Our Epic flooring does have that little edge/crevasse too that accumulates dirt/grime from time to time, but since you are starting from scratch, may be worth it to let it run up the side a tad if you can make it look good.

Ive been thinking about doing something along the same lines. I think I would rhino line it then have snap out carpets made for it. I'll bet that would work the best.

I'm bumping this up because I just started my project.

So I was sick of cleaning my carpet that was getting matted down and dirty. The boat had snap in carpet and we would run without it alot because of convenience, the problem was that is got slippery. I had some gator grip ( http://www.wakejunky.com/ ) that I put on the swim platform 3 years ago an it held up great, so I figured why not try it on the floor. I made a template last night and got the main floor done now I just need to finish the bow. I am just waiting on some more materiel. The worst that can happen is I peal it up if I don't like it and I am out $200. Here's the pictures.

the seadek faux teak stuff looks cool.... i like the grey look
