Hello all,
Im looking for a new handle and am looking at the straight line eclipse handle and would like to know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to the carbon handle. I am also open to any other suggestions on good handles. thanks
chris

I just ditched an Accurate Parks carbon handle for a Straightline featherlite handle. IMO there is a lot of hype about carbon handles. Especially "Its easier to do handle passes". In my experience it was very difficult to pass a "stiff/hard triangle" behind my back in a easy fluid motion. Where as the featherlite I just bought the sides are flexible and its much more forgiving.
Disadvantages- The handles can chip or damage your board ( I smashed a brand new board when I missed the handle and it hit the board) Some handles themselves will chip when hit. There expensive when considering there true value.
Advantages- they sure look cool.
You might try looking through an issue of wakeboarding mag (look at the photos not the ads) you might be very surprised what the pro's use. I was. and that's why I bought the straightline featherlite.

I didn't find them any easier or harder to make handle passes with.

not to mention the fact that they're "unbreakable" is complete BS. I witnessed a skinny dude rip a carbon fiber handle in half, ridiculous.
|
I find them very awkward to wrap, and they feel a bit weird at first. Other than that, felt like another handle.

I have a SL bantam and i think its great..its really light and handle passes seem a little bit easier! the handle part is very soft!

I have the limited edition Eclipse Carbon handle, and I absolutely LOVE it. It is incredibly light, and I get a lot more of a 'secure' feeling while riding, a lot more than 'flimsy pieces of rope attached to the ends of the grip'.

I love it. Highly recommended.

And Jeff, I have never wrapped nor does mine even have one, so I can't comment on that.

CWB LG...that is what you need!

I read somewhere else to check out the Proline Delta carbon Handle to and from what I've seen of it I like it but ill check out some of these other handles to!!

I really like the Murray handle, except for the fact that the grip on the 06' model comes off pretty readily...but the shape and construction are really nice, I love the sold (but still flexible) sides!
