I'd take the Moomba! Newer, less hours, more HP. The Malibu does look clean and has a T/A trailer though!

polarbill 07-07-2009 6:16 PM

I would take the Sunsetter over the outback. The only thing the Outback has is less hours and newer. The sunsetter will make a better wake, it has a wedge so you won't need as much ballast, it has tower speakers, better stereo, dual batteries, tandem trailer, etc... The moomba looks really stripped. It looks like it only has a tower, board racks and bimini. I had a 2000 Moomba and the vinyl they used back then sucked balls. I bet the Malibu feels more plush even though it has 3 times the hours. The Malibu is also a one owner boat and it is hard to judge but looks in great shape. If the Malibu looks to have been taken care of and he has service records I would go that route. Also HP isn't that big of a deal in my opinion. They are both carb motors it looks like. Maybe you have to reprop the malibu sooner?

Both look like nice boats in the ads. I strongly favor newer boats though, given how maintenance heavy they can be. So I vote Moomba!

trace 07-07-2009 6:32 PM

You should be able to get that Sunsetter for less than $14k. I'd take it over the Moomba too for all the reasons Brett stated, plus it's a deeper hull than the Moomba. The seat bases are taller, and it will handle weight &amp; rough water better.

thanks guys...i was leaning toward malibu also ..just wanted other opinions.. <BR>trace: not very good a bargaining but when i nada the boat it average at $11,400 with all his equipment..what do you think i can get for it...he just told me that speedo does not work and stiff on steering but said that was common with malibu... any feedback would be great. <BR> <BR>naych

hey guys ..just saw this now thats in my price range....sorry for asking too much...dont know much about boats...so now its the MALIBU OR THIS: <BR> <BR><a href="http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1258697138.html" target="_blank">http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1258697138.html</a> <BR> <BR>naych

brainrinse 07-07-2009 7:21 PM

That's a nice boat too. Don't let 2k in price choose the boat for you. There is plenty of room to negotiate in this market. Asking price is just that... ASKING price. What someone can sell their boat for is an entirely different thing. Go look at and test them all and then negotiate a screaming deal on your favorite.

jackeh 07-07-2009 7:38 PM

defiantly the sanger! <BR> <BR>that boat is clean and really nice.

rio_sanger 07-07-2009 8:21 PM

Sanger, no question. <BR> <BR>I am biased though, but there is a reason ...35 years of loving them <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/kiss.gif" border=0>

rio_sanger 07-07-2009 8:27 PM

Oh yeah, that '94 DLX is the same hull as today's V-210 and DLX. <BR> ...same boat, in classic colors

bjeremi 07-07-2009 8:50 PM

Man I love the look and price of that sanger. Looks clean, well taken care of and a bangin stereo.

99_slaunch 07-07-2009 9:15 PM

Sanger.

naych 07-07-2009 10:01 PM

damn..it is nice,,,well i guess sanger it is...hopefully it is makes a good wake... <BR>thanks guys... <BR> <BR>naych

timmy 07-08-2009 6:01 AM

good choice.

trace 07-08-2009 6:41 AM

I would probably go with the Sanger, but that is REALLY low hours for a '94. It probably sat unused for a few years, which can be bad but not always. Ask if it sat unused, and if so have the carbs and/or fuel tank have ever been cleaned out, if it was stored indoors (it looks like it was), if that's actual hours, etc. The Malibu has a deeper and slightly larger hull than the Sanger too, so if you ride in rough water and/or ride with a bigger crew it could be a better choice. <BR> <BR>I would demo both of them and offer about $10k for the one you like. Both are great boats, and this is a buyers' market.

ttuclint 07-08-2009 8:16 AM

Can't go wrong with either the Malibu or Sanger.

It says the sanger doesn't come with the wetsounds but maybe you could negotiate with him to include them.

tomfish 07-08-2009 10:21 AM

Probably be fine with eaither the malibu or the sanger. We had a sunsetter lx for 10 years and that boat was as solid as they come never and issue in its almost 700 hrs. Sold it for top dollar and I'm sure it is still stoking someone.

polarbill 07-08-2009 12:24 PM

naych, if you can swing some extra dollars you can get a newer Sanger V210. They are very highly regarded on this site. <BR> <BR><a href="http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1252653123.html" target="_blank">http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1252653123.html</a> <BR> <BR><a href="http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1251114776.html" target="_blank">http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/1251114776.html</a>

thanks brett..i will check it out and give them a call... <BR> <BR>naych.. <BR>p.s. i will post pics whenever i pick one up and decide..hard decisions :-)..

spencerwm 07-08-2009 10:46 PM

Although I always lean toward the Bu's, I am going to say Moomba. Less hours will be nice. The only thing I dont like about the Outback is the low freeboard. You will be limited on how much ballast you can add but you will still be able to add enough to surf. I bet you have this boat for a couple years and upgrade to something a little larger. <BR> <BR>I think Malibu changed the hull in 1997 to what the V-Ride was using last year. It is the V23 hull if I remember correctly.
