for those who care.

http://digitalvideoediting.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=31386

my sources(a vp at avid) tell me that they are doing this move to push their xpress pro package. they want to bundle a card with the software.

The Black Magic Decklink cards just killed the Cinewave at least on the Mac. I wonder if these cards will even be needed in a few years (or less)?
|
I would assume the only reason you would need a card would be to bring in media at different resolutions other than the native. Hell, if Xpress Pro would handle 2:1, that would be all you would need.

I online in 2:1 except for graphics which are 1:1. Our offline guys work in DV25. Right now DV25 and 1:1 are the only resolutions that Xpress Pro does.

Which Pinnacle card are they going to bundle? If they offered their HD card with Xpress at a reasonable price they could really kill the market. Right now FCP + Decklink is about $3000.00, the cinewave HD card was over 10 grand I believe but came bundled with final cut. Their uncompressed SD card was $4995.00.

Just read the article, it looks like they're (Avid) after Pinnacle's consumer base as well.
|
I dont really know which card they eventually plan to bundle. But ya, If they offer a HD card with Xpress Pro at a good proce, it would really cause a stink.

Its gonna be interesting.

I got a pinnalce card and cannot seem to get it to work... I am curious to see Avid express Pro now.
