I am seriously looking at a 2007 Super Air 220 and I would to know some feedback on the surf wake. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I wakeboard/surf 50/50, but a real nice surf wake.

Honestly, after everything is figured out with ballast you are going to be riding one of the best shaped wakes around! Serious......

Don't know much about the newer Nautique hulls, but is the 07 the same as the 08?

wakesurf_ohio 07-26-2009 7:43 PM

I've ridden it with 12 people in the boat and it was a really good wake. With proper weighting in the right places I'm sure we could have gotten it even better, but it was pouring down rain.

I am told that Nautiques are better set up on the goofy side. Is that right? JJ, how much ballast are you talking about?

They are better on the goofy side because they have opposite prop rotation. At least that's what I've been told. The shred stixx guys ride a nautique and it looks like a great wave.

The new Nautiques, '07 and newer, do not have opposite prop rotation. I have an '07 236 that has as good a surf wave as I have ever ridden on any boat on the regular side. I have custom ballast hard piped in to control the weight all the way down the port side and in the bow. The small wake gate makes a surprising big difference and you need to experiment with it for the right wake shape.

Pictures Scott!

OK, I thought they were the same. We rode 08 Nautiques at the Barrel boss contest last year and the wake was great! I'm not at home, but when I get back, I'll post some pics up and try and find the weight setup, I had it written down somewhere. The goofy wake looked nice, and both sides got good reviews from everyone.

Here is a lil vid from this spring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik_qtEVKyxY. Port, 12 people in the boat, starboard, starboard ballast full and 4 people in the boat.

edit: It is an '07 just like you're looking at.

(Message edited by wakesurf_ohio on July 27, 2009)

i have an 07 220 san and both sides are amazing. Just depends what your looking for. The goofy side is a lil shorter but much steeper and the regular side is not as steep but much longer. i will post some pics up of the wake. I absolutely love it and would trade for anything else.
