Heading to Havasu in the morning for a long weekend on the boat and was wondering if anyone has been in the water in the last 2-5 days. What's the water temp. I know the temps out in the Phoenix area are still around 76, but Havasu has got to be colder since it's the colorado river.

My dad was out there last weekend and they rode the river south of the dam (which is always colder) and it was high 60's. The lake should be warmer.

you know any good coves. It looks like it's better to head south and find a cove towards parker dam. I remember riding back in there before but so many boats driving by that they throw slow rollers into the coves (if you can find one). I'm hoping I can find something this weekend since it's starting to get to the season where people put their boats up for the year. This is the season I hit it hard

Keith,

You should be pretty good this time of year on Havasu. I had one of my best weekends ever there exactly this time last year. If you can work in a Friday or Monday with the weekend, you'll get awesome water. Most of the time we headed south from Lake Havasu City. See the pic below.

Good coves depend on winds and direction. There is a ok cove across from site 6 for when its not busy. The crowds normally die down after labor day.

There aren't many coves to ride in. The best thing we've always done is head past the dam and ride back and forth hugging the buoy line to the Bill Williams preserve. It's 5 mph on the other side of the buoys so you have reduced traffic, not great, but better than out in the middle.

If you have people that know what they are doing you can have 2-3 boats work the line and everyone get good water. This time of year shouldn't be too bad. Just get out earlier than the rest and guarantee good water.

the water was 70 in the morning and got up to about 73-74 by around 2pm. Not bad at all. I had glass water, from the marina (just outside the no wake section, headed straight south for a solid 25 minute session.

^^^^^ Very nice Keith. One of my favorite places in the world

either way it's a lot better temp than our seattle temp of 42 the other day so i would worry much if you're in AZ.
