Hey Guys,

I have a wakeskate, a LF armada 40, i cant say i use it much as im always wakeboarding but i really plan to get more into wakeskating this year.

do you guys have alot of run in's with your boards when you fall? whether it be falling onto it or havign it pop up at your face?

from the amount ive skated beside not being able to go w2w i feel like i have alot of control on it and want to get into kick flips and shuvs and stuff but im always a little hesitant when im on it

it is very rare to fall on your board. the only time you might hit your head with it is when you are coming from underwater and the board is above you. not a big deal. the only time you will scrape yourself is when you land sketchy and keep holding on and your ankle or knee rubs on the grip tape. still not a big deal and doesnt happen too often.

its just water. dont be afraid and just have fun

thanks for the info mitch, i thought you'd chime in!

yah im pretty excited to get out this season and mess around, what would you suggest to start with FS shuvs?

homedawg678 02-28-2008 5:52 PM

Id say maybe lipslides and ollies

wakemitch 02-28-2008 7:57 PM

yeah get your ollies solid and get lipslides and then start ollieing on to lipslides.
BS shuvs are easier to learn and easier to pop then FS Shuvs. a lot of people start with fs shuvs but the trick is awkward to pop and the board gets behind you. once people learn bs shuvs they rarely fs shuv.

i would recomend learning fs 180s before shuvs though.

wakeboardnut 02-29-2008 7:51 AM

yah my lipslide i have down, but my ollie is kinda dicey so i think ill work on that, and the ollie to lipslide as well!

thanks for the info dudes

wakeboardnut 02-29-2008 8:06 AM

One thing that I leaned to do over time, is when you fall out over the front of the board, about 90% of the time, you will go under water. Do not come back up immediatly; instead, wait a few seconds, and feel around on the surface so you don't get a whack in the head.

Eventually, your fall's will become more natural, and you will learn how to keep the board away from you when you fall.

Been whacked by my sattelyte in the head, popped it open too.

wakeboardnut 02-29-2008 5:37 PM

cracked your head open??

treycleaton 02-29-2008 6:42 PM

popped the skin open above my eybrow and needed stitches (didn't get them though, just butterfly taped it) I fell of the board and when my head popped out of the water ....BAM!!! that sh*t hurt, ruined the whole day. I think some boards can bee too heavy. Always go back to my Devotid and Integ...

lovin_the_wake 02-29-2008 7:55 PM

I've been slammed in the head a few times by my skate but I wear a helmet so it wasn't a big deal at all

deepcove 03-01-2008 5:51 PM

I have split my head open from my board and also broke my nose ( head was w2w and nose on a shuv). I think a heavier board gives a better chance of an injury due to its mass. I broke my nose with a hyperlite vinyl which is uber heavy with a shape edge. Also as with any sport the more you push yourself the greater the chance of injury. I have developed an automatic reaction of placing my forearms in front of my face wheneve I bail....seems to be working.

fontain06 03-02-2008 5:35 PM

i was riding on a really windy day and popped the board straight into my face. i ended up catchin it in a kind of bear hug.

yea i was doin a w2w jump on a LF control 41, and the board came out from under me and hit me in the face really hard haha. ya it hurt pretty bad.
