Most flex

Mostly ride cable. Rails are becoming my favorite thing ever. Now. I have a Watson hybrid and I can get most presses on lock. Just wondering which board has more flex. FLX or a slingshot (recoil, reflex, response). Or if anyone knows about the humanoid plank or any of the CTRL boards. Or even hyperlink union. I'm up for any suggestions. Appreciate the help.

The first gen Watson FLX felt pretty stiff to me as far as flex boards go. I would say one of the SS boards or a Company Severance if you can find one.

melvinator 06-04-2012 10:48 AM

Yes the severance is sweet on rails! I have a 142 that I bet has over a mile of railslides on it and no wear. I have an almost new 138 I will sell if anyone is interested, or the 142, I need to keep one for a rail board. I like more flex because I feel I can ollie better onto rails. I press them out a little but nothing like the really good guys do. I tried a non flex board 2 years ago and hated it! Flex for life.

From what I have been on
Most Flex ---> Stiffest

Original Hyperlite Roam - Slingshots - Company - LF Press - LF hybrids - standard foam core boards.

Since my phone is not cooperating right now. Melvin. You're selling a 138 severance?!?

Im just going to throw this out there, but out of all the boards ive seen, the Obrien Paradigm has the most flex ive ever seen in a board.

bschall 06-04-2012 12:15 PM

I have a 2012 Slingshot Reflex 141 that Ill ship to you for 325

melvinator 06-05-2012 4:50 AM

I dont want to get rid of it, but if someone is really interested email me, $250 shipped. mmelvin@tkschools.org for pictures

I have a ronix covenant 144 (basically the roam), that i might be willing to part with, i think its been ridden like 3 times, never on rails. I'd have to find it though

"I'm just going to throw this out there." What are you worried about?

Worried about?...... I fail to see what your getting at. As far as me being worried, no I am not. Most people overlook Obrien and/or look down upon them. I was throwing in an observation. If your hung up on the phrase "Throw this out there", Its identical to what a forum is. Everyone gives (or throws in) their thoughts, ideas, and observations.

I have never ridden an O'Brien either. I read online that it seems to be designed to be the "all around" board. Which gave me the illusion that it would be more like a ballistic core or a cwb vibe. In the sense that it would be a little stiffer.

It is an awesome board. I bought it to be my cable board as I wanted something with no bottom features, decent amount of flex, and the slider base. It was also my way of justifying buying a cable board. I'm new to the flex trend and didn't know if I would like it, so if all else failed and I didn't like the board I would use it for straight cable and winch. I have a 2012 Ronix One that I bought recently and now it just sits in the corner. The Paradigm is my new favorite boat, cable, do it all board. Super soft landings, tons of pop and can press it for days. It does flex more than others but it seems to be pretty snappy. I haven't ridden any board from slingshot so I cannot compare it to them or any other hybrid/flex board. If you can demo it, IMO its definitely worth trying at least once.

2012 Slingshot Response will hands down be the best board for what you want.

waketx05 06-06-2012 4:14 PM

Ok so here is my next question. When buyin O'Brien or slingshot board/boots. Size?! I'm 6ft. 165. Athletic build. Would I want more board, or less board to get the most flex?!

logan 06-06-2012 4:30 PM

IMO more board is better as it gives you a taller rocker so more room for flex.

wakerider111 06-06-2012 11:13 PM

bigger board
i am 6ft 165lbs too and ride a 142 response.

waketx05 06-07-2012 8:13 AM

What about boots?! I wear a 9-10 LF watson boot

logan 06-07-2012 9:09 AM

I would go with a size 10 Shred TOwn
