Help me out here bc I had a 99 205 and an 06 x1. It is the same boat with a few cosmetic changes and a tower but u will never convince me inflation included that it is worth 21 k extra. I will agree mc isn't the only one that has went crazy on price, but as I stated earlier they are the highest in my area.

sidekicknicholas 01-21-2010 9:39 PM

I'm with joe, 21k isn't really that nuts.

A 30k boat w/ taxes comes to like $31,500

*I'm going to assume trailers are included in both*
even with just inflation you're half way there.
Inflation = 13k and another $1,000 in taxes on the inflation costs.

$14,000 inflation/taxes
$2,000 tower/board racks ($16,000)
$2,000 ballast(price based on moomba's ballast option price) ($18,000)
$1,300 Zero-off (based on moomba too) ($19,300)

and to think that >$2,000 to cover the remaining money could easily thrown into stereo (tower speakers weren't around in 99), then a few more bucks in nicer carpet/seats/etc etc.

21k in 7 years and a few quick options isn't hard at all.

mikeporter2000 01-21-2010 10:34 PM

DBC,

Your "speculating" comment made me curious. So, based on boat trader listings the X-55 is almost 70% more expensive tahn the X-2:

New X-2:
http://www.boattrader.com/browse/make/mastercraft/x2

New, X-55:
http://www.boattrader.com/find/browse/make/mastercraft/x+55/

It sure would be nice if an X-55 was only $10-15k more than the X-2, as speculated.

(Message edited by mikeporter2000 on January 21, 2010)

(Message edited by mikeporter2000 on January 21, 2010)

matt c I dont know where your info comes from but to lower a MC tower takes all of 2 knobs per side, no braces to undo. A half a day? I can lower mine on a 09 in about 2 minutes. Knocking someones head off? Lets see some facts on that one.
The engines are the same? What about the Cats and new emissions? Dude you have no idea what your talking about and I'm done arguing with you. You cant reason with an idiot.

behindtheboat 01-22-2010 6:18 AM

how many people actually need to and how often do people put towers down for trailering and going under bridges/passes?

pierce_bronkite 01-22-2010 9:05 AM

Ahh another good ol boat bashing thread.

My boat is better! No Mine is! But yours is overpriced! But my tower can lower 1 second faster than yours! But my boat brand sold more than yours!

Lol, these threads are great Friday entertainment.

curtisco24 01-22-2010 9:11 AM

Billy,
We really have to resort to name calling? I realize that this thread was talking about bling and being disappointed in mc.However since Billy feels I'm just running off at the mouth and don't know what I'm talking about ill share my MC story. I like many people, always wanted an MC growing up. In july of 2006 I purchased an x1. On the first trip to the lake I fell over backwards in the drivers seat. The screws had seperated from the seat base. These supposedly stainless steel screws were already rusting. Upon trailering I noticed a huge hump by the rear seat. The second day I took the boat out was july 3 had a good day other than the wobbly driver seat. I drove home in anticipation of july 4. About halfway home, the hub seprated from the axle dragging the trailer boat and my truck off the side of the road. I called a rollback and enjoyed the 4th w a brand new boat on blocks. I went to the mc plant when the opened after the holiday and told them to come get the boat. Ed clowers a nice man by the way, handled my complaint. Apparently, a new department had been created to handle all of the complaints that dealers were not handling properly. He convinced me to give mc one more shot. The boat was towed the next day. I picked it up and they gave me a used black yard trailer that was a tandem axle. They also fixed my seat and said thanks bc I had told them the screws were too short in the seat. They said that was the first time they had noticed it. They sawed down the hump in the floor and said it was extra glass. They also told me to come back the next week and they would repair my ss rubrail which was was falling off the boat, as well as replace my decals which had bubbled. I towed the boat back they repaired the rubrail, and put my decals on upside down. The worst part was they didn't have a clue. I had to take a brochure and show the guy that put them on as well as the quality control manager that they were on upside down. He then put a new set on and appaerently decals in diagonal was the style.Mc told me to come back and they would fix it. I go back to the plant on monday my mc cruise has quit working. When set on 22 it surges from 18 to 25 mph. They agree to fix decals and check cruise. I wait all day first decal still crooked. Second one, perfect except for the fact that they scratched the entire side of a black boat putting them on. They were kind enough to buff those out and tell me that the cruise was supposed to vary 8mph in speed depending on conditions. Um I ride in slick water. Anyway that was last visit to mc. I learned that the director of quality control had never ridden in an inboard until a few months before when he got the job. Trailer problems they were well aware of but tried to hide. A lot of the people running the show are out of touch with what goes out the door. So I am disappointed in mc? U betcha willie bill. Ps not an isolated incident my friend bout an 87k x45 that stayed at the plant. I had better luck than him his wouldn't even run.

woreout 01-22-2010 9:31 AM

Now thats some funny Sh*$ !!
So I guess your dealer that you bought it from was never in the picture. Or are you the only one that has ever bought diect from the factory?
Like I said not gonna argue with you anymore.

curtisco24 01-22-2010 11:19 AM

I would throw in the towel too if I knew it was a losing battle. The best u is calling names? That is funny. Anyway on to the subject. Hmm let's see bought it from a dealer. Plant was closer to me than dealer. Therefore, I could either call up my dealer and play the little runaround game they like to play or go to the source of the problem myself. I went to the source. My friend with the 09 x45 had to get a lawyer involved to force MC to buy his boat back. They thought he should understand that the boat stayed in the shop monday though friday and then quit every weekend. I mean who wouldn't be happy with that after they payed 87k for a boat. Now billy I can call and ask for his name and social security # if you would like to check my story. U wanted a friend of a friend story what about the guy who started the mc sucks website? How did it go? His hull cracked to pieces and mc told him tough luck on a 3 year old boat. That worked until he shared his experiences online. Suddenly mc had a change of heart as long as he would be quiet. Funny how that stuff works. Held to a higer standard? Its funny mcs used to be really popular around here. They aren't anymore. The few that have bought them in the last few years seem to have had similar experiences to mine. Malibus supras moombas and a few correct crafts are what are popular around here.

riddick 01-22-2010 11:35 AM

However, in knoxville, the mastercraft dealer is the only one left, besides correct craft, and they focus more on selling cobalts

riddick 01-22-2010 11:38 AM

and knoxville is pretty close to sweetwater, and i think they are still pretty popular haha. i mean, if i was a betting man, i would say that we ride on the same lake.

woreout 01-22-2010 11:38 AM

lalalalalalalalalalalala thats me not listening to you. Yes the towel has been thrown in. You win.
BTW what mfg makes he engine in your i ride?

Matt C

You'll never convince a MC dealer that their products have faults, it is a losing battle.

curtisco24 01-22-2010 12:12 PM

B riddick we don't. Im guessing ur on ft. loudon?
If so, I saw a few up that way last time I went.

curtisco24 01-22-2010 12:14 PM

Briddick did shadrack not takeover the supra line? Does overboard not sell malibu anymore?

lifetimewarranty 01-22-2010 12:23 PM

"how many people actually need to and how often do people put towers down for trailering and going under bridges/passes?"

I usually duck my head when I go under an overpass. Dude, those things could take your head off!

woreout 01-22-2010 1:02 PM

timmy, are you the one that had your stuff stolen that time out on the lake?
And I have never said they didnt have faults, hell all of them have faults (all mfgs). Just not stuff like the tower takes half a day to put down, and it falls down all the time and will take your head off. How you can have both of those problems is beyond me. It takes forever to put down but yet it will come down on its own.
Or the hull "cracks to pieces" its exaggerated statements like that is what gets me.

(Message edited by woreout on January 22, 2010)

timmy 01-22-2010 1:16 PM

no, that must have been someone else

woreout 01-22-2010 1:21 PM

There was a Tim that came here for WakeFest 2 years ago and while his boat was parked on the tires at Cypress Gardens someone jumped in it and stole all his stuff. About a week later the guy was bragging about stealing it and got nailed for it. Luckily we got all his stuff back for him. I hate a thief!

timmy 01-22-2010 1:28 PM

I do recall reading about that on here...thankfully you guys got his stuff back. I wanted to go to the wakefest but I think I was on the road for work.

dreevs 01-22-2010 1:39 PM

I think that was Jeff Billy.

On another note - dont you think some people get bad experiences in life based purely on how they handle a situation? Six looong paragraphs of explaining an issue or a point of view is an exhausting but funny read. One more after the towel is thrown for good measure...

Im a wakeboat fan. I like 'em all. Bling 'em up - brings out the chickies!!

dreevs 01-22-2010 1:41 PM

sorry - two more exhausting paragraghs after the towels thrown...

woreout 01-22-2010 2:58 PM

Yeah dreevs it was a Jeff, swore it was a Tim. I'm getting OLD
I know I know I threw in the towel but just couldnt help myself. My wife gets mad at me for the same thing, I always say, "I'm sorry...but"

Where have you been Ted? Hey now that everyone seems to think I'm a MC dealer do you wanna buy a boat? haha
One thing I wish MC had as a option is instead of filling up ballast you could fill up the lake!! Our lakes are super low now, worst I've seen.
And your right Ted about the "way they handle a situation" results in the outcome for sure.

Bling = Hot Chicks is right.

riddick 01-22-2010 5:22 PM

My parents live on watts bar. that where i ride most, but ride on melton hill and loudon a lot too...overboard is gone. now called great wakes or something like that, but not in knoxville anymore.

mhunter 01-22-2010 5:26 PM

The thing that disappoints me with MC is the overall atmosphere and conduct of everyone involved with them. From the company to the dealer to the forum and yes the owners themselves. I always feel like a lamb going to slaughter. They take the fun out of boating.

riddick 01-22-2010 5:26 PM

its in lenor city close to roane county line. and yes, shads is the new supra dealer

brett564 01-22-2010 9:31 PM

Go Malibu!!!!!!

JK

mikehunt (haha),

See that was a joke. Not all MC owners are lame. I wrote my...never mind.

dreevs 01-23-2010 8:23 AM

Billy - Ive been busy, had my son last monday! 5 months and 3 weeks from now you and I need to get together to break Bonifay's guiness record - I want it to be behind an MC with a ton of bling on it. The boy is already strong and ready to ride!
Still undecided on when Ill get a new boat. I am still feeling that SSX35 - but that Coatal Nauti 230...
By the way - I wasnt talking about your exhausting paragraghs...

lionel 01-23-2010 8:29 AM

Well said Mike Pony. Mike Hunter makes a stereotypical generalization, like people named Mike can't drive a boat

I just can't see how any manufacturer can hit every demographic. I used to own Malibu's, and they currently aren't for me. I now own a MC, and they are for me right now. Hitting different demographics is how each brand hits their niche. No brand is for everyone, that would be boring anyways.

Here's what I like about my MC. The wake, first and foremost. Huge and clean. I love the profile of my boat in the water. Probably one of the best looking boats sitting there in the water, IMO of course. I like small things like the bow ladder, which my daughter loves, the storage is great, the board racks are second to none, prewired tower is a great idea, I love my tower mirror, snap out carpet, underwater lighting, and some of the stereo options.

Now for what could be better. Coolers, are small, and I liked where my cooler was better in my Malibu. Glove box door is flimsy, tower won't clear a 7' garage door, and barely goes under an 8, the swivel driver's seat won't swivel all of the way because it hits the arm rest area.

So, for me the good outweighed the bad. I realize that everyone doesn't appreciate all of things about my boat that I do, but it's not theirs, and they didn't choose to buy it. At the end of the day, it was my money, and I spent it how I wanted to. If other people don't like it, I really don't care.

So, if everyone can remove their ownership goggles, and be objective, there would be less bashing. I really don't know why people bash. There is usually at least one thing that I can pick out in every boat that I like, and that I don't. Different strokes for different folks.

One last thing. My X Star has been flawless.

mikeporter2000 01-24-2010 8:42 AM

Well said CMC. That was refreshing.

pdub 01-25-2010 3:36 PM

my X-star love it - like the looks of bu as well.

woreout 01-26-2010 12:11 PM

Yes I love MC too, and its funny how people like timmy bash me (and think they know me), for saying things about other brands when most of the bashing on this thread and the CR voucher thread is done by people other than MC owners like timmy. So I guess I'm not alone in defending the brand I own and talking smack about others. HaHa
Carry on.

riddick 01-26-2010 6:12 PM

Ill keep it rolling on the good stuff. I love my x-star. Its a newer one. I wouldnt say its annoying or too blinged out...I think it looks great on the water, i like the attention to detail, and all the extras.

The wake is by far one of my favorite wakes, and i do load it up. So its great for tubing

timmy 01-27-2010 6:06 AM

Billy, you might convince me you were not a dealer if a 2 minute google search didn't show that you have the same kid in your profile here as the cypress watersports MC dealer does on his FB profile, and the pictures you have posted on here bear a striking resemblance to each other. Not to mention prior to the google search mutual friends of ours have confirmed that fact. So guess what, you are not fooling anyone.

I don't recall too much bashing of the actual boats from me, I know they all have strengths and weaknesses and I'd ride behind any of them (and have ridden behind most), I just dislike shady sales tactics.....

sidekicknicholas 01-27-2010 6:17 AM

^I didn't wamt to get in on this but Timothy you do understand the that on the cypress watersports website, the pic of Billy(1) with his son is under "LOCAL SNAPSHOTS" where anyone can upload?!

There is no possible way Billy(1) could have uploaded a photo to Billy(2) to post since he is a happy MC owner... thats to far fetched.... I guess Will Christien and Jimmy Trask are his son/daughter...it also looks like he has 5 different boats, BALLLLIN!

Also, if you're confused why wouldn't your friends who confirmed this... birds of a feather, even if they're "special" birds.

Good work detective, Facebook Special Agent TimTim reporting for duty.

timmy 01-27-2010 6:20 AM

I wasn't talking about the cypress watersports site, I was talking about Billy's profile here, and the cypress watersports dealer's FB page. Same kid. You know both Billys are the same person too, but since you are buddy-buddy with him you are trying to protect his facade.

(Message edited by timmy on January 27, 2010)

sidekicknicholas 01-27-2010 6:30 AM

Since I know two Billys (Billies, never had to pluralize Billy) in Winter Haven, on the same street, both with MC's, one who said they were an MC dealer (not the one in question) I assume they both weren't, I guess I've never heard Billy(woreout) say, "I'm NOT a MC dealer" .... maybe you're right, its a WinterHaven facade where two men take on the same identity to trick customers into making MC purchases.

All I know for sure is Billy(woreout) maybe the single nicest guys I've ever met, he would give you the shirt off his back even in weather that is cold (to him). He hooked two strange Wisconsin kids up with a sweet setup right on the water when we came to live in WH (for FREE) and has opened his house to me too whenever I come back down... great guy.

timmy 01-27-2010 6:32 AM

Yeah maybe they are identical twins, you are right. How could I have made that mistake.
