Last Friday I rode with Jeff Frew in the backwater. Later on in the day Derek Conway came out and rode with us. Watching him ride was unreal. He warmed up with a grabbed Tantrum and ts oa 5. Threw down a handful of ts 7's, some more ts 5's, a couple hs 5's, kgb, tootsie roll, and all with a super smooth lay back chill always got a smile on his face style. It was refreshing to see someone ride like that.

Saturday at the comp, he rode open, threw down just like he did the day before and of course he won. I have one thing to say about the Open class....TYLER KILLINGSWORTH GOT ROBBED!!

My ride was the best run I've had this season. I just wanted to say thanks to Jeff Frew, for all his hard work putting on the tournaments, and always finding room in his boat for me. I'm such a whore.

I also wanted to congratulate Derek, and Tom and say wuttup.

Good times.

Hey Thane, it was great having you at the contest. I am in total agreement with you on Jeff Frew. Not many know that work that he has to go through to put on these contests. I for one, do NOT covet his position. Dealing with the drama and all that goes with running a club. BIG huge thanks to Jeff and his family for all they do!!

jarrod 08-12-2004 9:05 PM

Thane, I got to go out with Derek and Tom Conway a few months ago. Definitely a great rider to watch with the laid back lazy style. I can see he's learned a few new tricks in a short amount of time also. Four months ago, there were no 7s, and I believe, no KGB either. That's amazing.

Glad to hear you had a great run as well.

cws_kahuna 08-13-2004 6:43 AM

I love hearing great things like this about the Frew's. They are some of the coolest people I have ever known.

teamvaldez 08-13-2004 8:14 AM

Some more props going out to Tom Conway for what he is doing for the sport. (and Derek for putting up with TOM) J/K tommy. I am not going into huge details cuz Tom hates it when I thank him too much, but just so y'all know, Tom is behind the scenes lifting up the jr mens riders and has his eye on the FUTURE of the sport. I STILL havn't see the new Alliance yet, but I hear great things about the Shasta video.

Frew is the man. As a fellow whore, I too have been the recipient of his hospitality. Glad you had a good ride. I am definately making it to the last comp of the year, toe should be healed & will be ready to roll.

tahoe 08-13-2004 9:29 AM

Frew is absolutely one of the coolest people you will ever meet wakeboarding. I've lost count how many pulls I owe him. Chris

wakestar8878 08-13-2004 10:07 AM

Well I'm riding with Jeff this Saturday, and I have to say that no one takes better care of all the So. Cal. boat whores than Jeff.

All joking aside Jeff has always done an awesome job putting everything together for the CLWC, and as we all know it’s not an easy job. Jeff and the CLWC have done wonders in making sure the wakeboarding community gets the respect they deserve, whether it's through donations to the ski club, or having meetings on how to make the back water enjoyable for everyone. The best thing about Jeff is that somehow he manages to always pull it off with a big smile on his face.

So major props out to Jeff and the CLWC, oh and by the way: JEFF YOU DA MAN!!!!!!!
dakid 08-13-2004 11:08 AM

you're all a bunch of frew-ass kissers!!!!

frew, you kick ass! frankie and i owe you so much! you definitely are a wakeboarder's (along w/ whores') best friend!

corey_marotta 08-13-2004 12:05 PM

Frew is the man.

teamvaldez 08-13-2004 1:29 PM

He is a member of DMC right??

rock_n_boardin 08-13-2004 1:36 PM

Yep he is a member. But all the DMC'ers are keeping a low key profile right now!

Jeff you Da Man!!

erica_b 08-13-2004 3:59 PM

I just have to give a little love too.

Jeff-

You rock!!! That was so much fun to ride on Friday night, and the comp was a blast as well. You're energy is tireless when it comes to things involving wakeboarding. It's really cool. Thanks again for everything.

Derek-

To see you throw down like that and have so much fun doing it was totally inspiring. That was definately the coolest thing that I've seen in a long time.

Thane-

You got robbed in the comp too. Your run was sweet! Not bad for a whore.

buttacup 08-13-2004 7:54 PM

Frew helps all whores out. In fact, two days after Christmas, he gave myself and a guy from Nebraska a polar bear pull and even let me use his drysuit.

I miss you and the family, I might be down there sooner than I expected for a quick visit!

socalwakepunk 08-13-2004 8:40 PM

Yeah, I tell you, that Jeff guy is freaking freaking. I heard that once, he ran into a burning fur coat factory and single handedly saved 101 puppies from certain death! I heard that he was on this bus, and there was this bomb, and if the speed dropped below... I heard that one time at Greg's house, he ate 9 pieces of watermelon (of course he let someone else drive home)!

Seriously, you guys are far too kind. I should be thanking you for hanging out with me, being the freaking dork that I am, and having to watch me ride.

BTW, about Derek Conway... Cindy caught me in the garage around 11 that night, naked, rolling all over the interior of the boat. She says " What the hell are you doing???" I said "Trying to see if any of Derek's steeze happened to rub off on the upholstry!!!" I know, I'm pathetic, and Derek has as much skill and style as anyone I have ever seen!

wakestar8878 08-16-2004 2:01 PM

Just wanted to add one more big thanks to Jeff for the awesome day of riding Saturday. I have to say that was one of the funniest times ridding that I've had in long time. I mean what more can you ask for a huge wake, the world's most gracious host, and plenty of fun people to ride with, (yes, including you Joe).

It was very cool to finally get to hang out and ride with Mr. Umali and Frankie (tell her I say hi, Joe). Joe was throwing down some very stylish runs I might add.

Some of the highlights of the day, was getting the pleasure of watching the Valdez boys (Eddie & Jacob), along with Damien Klass getting ready for Nationals. Very cool to see Eddie landing his Raley's for the first time, Jacob landing a couple sweet Whirlies (GO TEAM VALDEZ / B.W.M.), and Damien throwing down his KGB's. Lots of great riding on the back water that day. Anyways, I just wanted to say I had a great time with all of you and can't wait to do it again.

dakid 08-16-2004 2:21 PM

yeah, those crashes were stylish, weren't they? i was hurtin' so bad yesterday (and still hurtin' today) from all the crashes! so much so, i had to have frankie help me get up outta bed!

thanks for the pulls, jeff. shawn's right in that you're one gracious host! and that wake is SIIIIIIICK!

shawn, it was a pleasure meeting you and laurie (forgive me if i spelled it wrong), and a blast riding w/ you. i'll make sure to bring my camera next time to capture your sick ass riding!

dakid 08-16-2004 2:23 PM

any of you guys have gretchen's email addy?

wakestar8878 08-16-2004 2:34 PM

Hey Joe what can I say, no one crashes like you. (J/K) Thanks for the compliment, if you couldn't tell I was having SO MUCH FUN!!

I'm sure Jeff has her e-mail, just hit him up.

teamvaldez 08-16-2004 7:19 PM

Hey Shawn, man, the boys are pumped up right now and riding better than they ever have.
we are so thankful that we have such great friends that love on them the way they do, like Damian, Jeff, Brent, the Swink family and YOU!!
Joe, I didn't even know you were out!

tommyc 08-16-2004 9:02 PM

I have decided that Jeff will now become Derek's Godfather and is also in my will.

tommyc 08-16-2004 9:54 PM

Robyn, honey, the article is in Wakeboarder mag. Are your boys ready? Hows Eddie's BS spins doin'?

Wuttup - ThaneDogg

dakid 08-16-2004 11:39 PM

robyn, yeah, i was there...kept it on the downlow 'cause no one wants anyone else to know that they actually hung out w/ the much-hated umali.

teamvaldez 08-17-2004 7:19 AM

Hey, I want to be in your will!! And I havn't recieved my new wakeboarding mag yet either!! Tom, I think that you are going to be very pleased when you see the boys ride this weekend. How did it go with "killingit" and Jimmy Wolf, Derek and the whole crew at bullards??

tommyc 08-17-2004 7:35 AM

They had a great time. I don't think they were totally focused on wakeboarding though. When they finally showed up to the Red Bluff contest, they looked pretty haggard.

Are your boys sickin' their passes? Is Eddie doing his backside spins consistently? See you soon.

teamvaldez 08-17-2004 7:54 AM

They went out riding with Damian Sat and sunday and with Brent yesterday and today.
Really they need to take it a little easier, Eddies shins are bothering him. (ALOT of riding) He is landing everything and MORE!
