Axis Surf Wake

Anyone out there wakesurfing behind an Axis? What's your set up to get the best surf wake? We tweeked ours last year but didn't have the plug n play bags.(which we've got now)
Our best wake was 10.0 speed, full port side ballast, about half center tank, and a 200lbs steel weight in the front. Oh and the wedge down.

So let me hear your opinions, suggestions, and your setups. Thanks Brandon.

We're newbies but we've been riding at 10mph with full center tank, full rear passenger tank, ~400lb sac in the passenger side vdrive compartment and another ~400lb sac on the side passenger bench towards the back. We've only been surfing for about a month so I really can't comment on how good or bad the wake is.

Here is our setup with 3 dudes in the boat, plus driver. Wedge down.

We have been able to generate a respectable wake out of our Axis. We fill front, empty center, fill Left Rear and wedge down at about 11.4 mph. That is when there is nobody else in the boat. Last week, we ran on drivers side with 4 persons total and I sat in front, gf drove, 2 people behind her, front filled, center empty, right rear filled wedge down 11.0 mph. Very nice wake. I surfed that same setup but on left side and it was very nice too. I am at work but will post up pics when I get home. We generally surf without anybody else and we still get it dialed really well. Usually wake is waste high.

whats your weight set up like? Wave actually looks pretty nice

silvermustang35 03-04-2011 9:00 AM

Depending on the pic, one rear side (whichever side we are surfing on) filled, wedge down, center empty, front 2/3 full or totally full. Persons on the same side, about 10-11 mph

CarFanatic5 03-04-2011 9:14 AM

the last pic wave looks good. on the red black boat

In that last picture it looks like the rub rail could be a little closer to the water. LOL

CarFanatic5 03-04-2011 10:03 AM

ya, you could add more weight, but wave looks decent.

How do you guys like the fact that you have to walk on the seats to get to the bow area? Thats the only part of this boat that bothers me..

silvermustang35 03-06-2011 6:57 PM

The red one in the picture does not have the plug n play bags, that is only 200 in the right rear, wedge down, 4 people on one side. We were riding side by side filming and pics and he crossed from ours to theirs since they were set up to surf too. I didnt get any pics of ours from their boat but both of course are Axis.
As far as the chilax seating, we love it. Two extra seats if needed within a second, and as far as crawling back and forth, we have had no issues. We wanted that in our boat though. In my old I/o I had the front seat filler cushion to create a large front area, so this worked out well.

I take that back, I found 3 pics, not the best quality, but gives you a decent idea. They were stills pulled from the camera.
