thinking about giving some love to my 2000xstar. I know mymastercraft.com has a lot of billet you can buy, but its kinda difficult to look through.
Whats the laundry list. Not that im going to do all this, but curious to see what all is possible to upgrade.

so, im looking for ideas of things that are easy to bling. So far Im thinking
- SS cupholders (plastic ones keep breaking)
- Billet air vent on the back
- Billet air intake scoops?
- 07 captains chair? (do they swivel?)
- center cusion
- Jumpseat? is there one?

lionel 06-07-2007 12:07 PM

I've got the first 3, don't know about the 07 swiveling chair? Not my boat, but I like what they've done with the graphics........

(Message edited by lionel on June 07, 2007)

That is one of the better looking X1's I've seen. I like the graphic addition.

bwood 06-07-2007 3:44 PM

I bought a used 06 X1 that came with the same graphics and I think it set's it off.

I was thinking about adding that decal to ours.. looks pretty sharp; similar to the prostars.

riverdave 06-07-2007 4:24 PM

DJ dizzyj, I've been waiting for one of these threads to pop up in here so I could add my .02..

Ok, while the things you mentioned are kinda cool... Lets face it it's not really going to send shockwaves through the people looking at your boat. A guy like me that isn't familiar with wakeboats probably wouldn't even notice.

So let the bling begin..

Impy's Hotrod wheels..

http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=impywhe els

Incidentally my personal favorite as well as the one I just recently put on my girls boat... "The Daytona"

http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=impyday tona13

If you don't find something you like out of those we can step away from the marine suppliers a bit, and go over to this website... "Billet Specialties"

Your going to find everything from billet pullies for your motor, to steering wheels, etc... over here. It should be noted that these steering wheels are what are known as 1/2 wraps.. leather on one side, billet on the other. (can get hot on a sunny day) The ones above from Rex are full wraps..

http://www.billetspecialties.com/subcategory.asp?cid=12

Behind the billet steering wheel there's going to be a little adapter hub.. You can vary the length of that hub (2 - 4 - 6 inches), as well as the bolt pattern to match the wheel. Those hubs can be found here : (I think you'd probably go with the 2 on a wakeboat)

http://www.rexmar.com/page94.html

Also offer Hubs if you go with a different wheel.. something like an automotive "Momo" etc..

http://www.rexmar.com/page93.html

Ok, now you got your wheel covered.. How about doing something that hasn't been done before? An Offshore throttle setup in a wakeboat? Dana Marine just came out with these billet shifter throttle combo's. They are a gunnel mount and the bling factor is off the hook. The short shifter is your gears, the long one is the throttle. After you get used to this setup, you'll never want to go back to a single lever again. I'm about 95% sure These will work with your existing cables, so it's literally unbolt yours, and put this one in.

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/ProductDetails.cfm?group_id=33&catid=576&p roductid=4691&CFID=313407&CFTOKEN=66428466

The two switches in the throttle handle are usually used as Trim switches on an I/O. You can hook them to your hydraulic wake plate and be able to adjust on the fly without removing your hands from the wheel or throttle.. Or if you don't want to do that, you can just ask Dana to sell you one without the switches in it.

How you set for stereo? Speaker covers?

These are cost effective and work exceptionally well. My friend Stu makes them actually. Probably the best prices your gonna find for billet speaker covers.. I'll throw up some others though in case you don't like the designs.
Can't get the stupid link to work so just copy and paste this into your browser:

http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=vicious main

Ron's Billet also sells Grills

http://www.ronscustomdetail.com/

Not sure what kind of remote your running for your stereo, but there's a variety of billet bezels available for them.

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=236&group_id=2& page=1&CFID=313408&CFTOKEN=12448762

http://www.ronscustomdetail.com/shop_bezels.html

Now lets get into somethings that you probably haven't seen before.. Hose down systems aren't anything new in boats, deckboats have had them for years, and from what I understand some wakeboats even have a hose down with hot or cold water, but there's a twist on them now!!

Lets say you run your boat up to the beach and party it up for awhile.. hose down system is in the back of the boat.. Most everyone gets in the front of the boat with sand on their feet. Not a problem anymore!! Run a water line up to the front and install one of these little billet showers.. their tiny and spray little streams of water to wash peoples feet off before you get in the boat!!

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=534&group_id=2& page=1&CFID=313407&CFTOKEN=66428466

I'm not sure what pump you guys are running for hydraulic wake plates, but if I had to guess it's probably the standard merc pump damn near everyone in the marine world uses for everything.. If that's the case (click the single one)

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=507&group_id=2& page=1&CFID=313407&CFTOKEN=66428466

Some of the standard stuff, random billet bezels for Nav Lights, Battery switches, Perko stern lights etc..

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=2&group_id=2&pa ge=1&CFID=313408&CFTOKEN=12448762

Now if ya just got money to burn... How about some billet "fender" holders? Hold your bouies in style in the rear storage areas.

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=552&group_id=2& page=1&CFID=313408&CFTOKEN=12448762

This is all stuff you can buy off the shelf and throw on your boat. I'm about 90% possitive you'd be "custom" with regards to I haven't seen any of this stuff on other wakeboats. I have seen all of it on a variety of performance boats.

If you want to get really "custom" and start making some of your own parts.. Like say a custom wake plate, different shape? size? Definately do-able..

I don't want to overload you guys so I think I'll stop there for now.

DJ

(Message edited by riverdave on June 07, 2007)

Well almost stopped there..

Billet or Stainless (I'd use stainless but they are $$$$) Bildge Dumps are mandatory..

http://www.rexmar.com/page169.html

http://www.rexmar.com/page170.html

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=3&group_id=2&pa ge=1&CFID=313433&CFTOKEN=48926315

And maybe some cleat bezels while your at it.

http://www.danamarineproducts.com/GroupCatProducts.cfm?CatId=7&group_id=2&pa ge=1&CFID=313433&CFTOKEN=48926315

Ok I'm done now.

RD

(Message edited by riverdave on June 07, 2007)

(Message edited by riverdave on June 07, 2007)

RD,

I think it's time for you and "G" to hook up on a project. The results would be off the hook imo.

dnp33 06-07-2007 9:17 PM

wow dave. i think that must be the post that takes up the most space ive ever scene!
exclent ideas btw, also, would a custom wake plate change performance? that might be a good idea. also, i feel dum asking but what is billet?
good idea with the shower thing.
so, if you got all of this on your already 70k X-star, how much would it end up to be. or even better, arent the X-80s already over 100k? this could get interesting

riverdave 06-08-2007 10:26 AM

The term "Billet" means to be cut from a solid..

What that means if you were to have a peace shaped like an "L" it started out being shaped like a square and all the material was cut away from the original peace to attain the final shape. Billet is expensive historically becuase there's alot of machine time (or back in the day labor) and alot of material is wasted to achieve the final product. Nothing is stronger per weight though then a billet peace as it all started as one block, regardless of material.

Over the years the term has kinda changed to mean anything aluminum though to the boating world. Alot of those speaker grills are stamped, and water jet cut, which means they started out as thin plate and were then bent and stretched to achieve their final shape.. Much cheaper then cutting each out of a solid block. Ron's billet are actual billet though, which is reflected in the price. (Honestly some of the stamped peaces are nicer though in that particular app)

RD

More cool steering wheels:
http://budnik.com/steeringwheels.asp?scid=72&pg=1

bocephus 06-08-2007 12:20 PM

I noticed that a lot of after market products are anodized. Be careful with anodized products on boats, the sun will fade the colors pretty quickly. MB used to use anodized speaker grills, etc..now I think they use powder coated products which don't fade (at least in my experience).

riverdave 06-08-2007 1:26 PM

Bocephus, annodized colors will last a long time if they are done right.. The only color that seems to fade pretty quickly (2 or 3 seasons) is red. The die that is used for red anno is particularly succeptable to sunlight for some unknown reason?

All the links I've put up you can order the parts in Anno or powdercoat by the way. ;)

RD

(Message edited by riverdave on June 08, 2007)
