so for my media class, as a final project the class is teaming together and making a magazine...its gonna feature an article by each student about their interests. my biggest interest of course is wakeboarding. i already took a bunch of photos and what not, but now i want some opinion from you guys. i have one question, plain and simple. Why are you a wakeboarder?

otiswunguy 05-30-2007 2:08 PM

I started out just riding a little bit with my friends on the weekend. As time went on, I started going more and more often. Sometimes I would find myself going to the boat launch by myself to try to hook up some wakeboarding. Now I spend all my money on it and my addiction causes me to miss work a few times a week. I am currently a member of W.A.(wakeboarders anonomous) a 12 step support program designed to help me take back control of my life. This sucks...it's almost 90 in seattle today and I feel a relapse coming on.

wakeboarder84 05-30-2007 2:11 PM

your kidding right? does that actually exist?

woohoo 05-30-2007 2:13 PM

I wakeboard because it is the best thing in the world. There is no other feeling like it, I get a rush that nothing else can give me. Wakeboarding is the one thing that never gets dull and is always the number one thing to do. Wakeboarding is just the best thing to do. Also it gets all the ladies.

woohoo 05-30-2007 2:14 PM

I think everyone on WW automatically joins the W.A.

wakeboarder84 05-30-2007 2:15 PM

well this is what i have written so far...When you’re waking up at the break of dawn, before the rush of cars, noise, and pollution, and heading to your boat to strap on a wakeboard, things can’t be too bad for you. Then you see the lake: a sheet of glass hundreds of acres in size. You internally giggle at this glorious site because you’re so excited. You finally get out there, strap on your board, wetsuit and jacket, and finally hop into the water. Your splash is the only thing disrupting your plethora of perfect water. The boat starts to go and you get up. Warming up for your session, you carve around a little bit, going in and out of the wakes. You’re ready to start shredding. You carve out as hard has you can on your heelside, the most comfortable position of wakeboarding, and you feel it…your board slicing through the glassy surface like a hot knife through butter. The all familiar chills run down your spine. You’ve reached it. That natural high, the best feeling you’ll ever feel. This is why I wakeboard.

your thoughts?

wakeboarder84 05-30-2007 2:16 PM

and if this W.A. exists, im totally there. it actually caused me and the lady to split. however, we're only 16 so it doesnt really matter anyway haha

wakeboarder84 05-30-2007 2:33 PM

well said

dabell 05-30-2007 2:34 PM

Grant,

I wakeboard because I like the water. It keeps you cool during the summer and it is a great family environment (well, except for some a-holes once in awhile). But, I enjoy watching my children board because you can see the smiles on their faces and how happy they are to get up and accomplish something that they were not able to do last year.

brad63 05-30-2007 2:36 PM

its the only sport you can take the main component out of and still have a good time on the water in the boat with buds

wakeboarder84 05-30-2007 2:36 PM

this is all really good input guys, keep it comin

_jason_ 05-30-2007 3:20 PM

Grant,

Why i Wakeboard is plain and simple. There is so much to Wakeboarding. Its such a progressive sport to be apart of. The feeling of cutting out in pure glass trickling your fingers along the water with a beautiful sunset in the background; In all seriousness what beats that?

dabell 05-30-2007 3:28 PM

^^^ doing that with family and friends.

sikkvlx 05-30-2007 4:13 PM

It's Absolutely Relaxing And Mellow, Safe And Secure, While At The Same Time Gives You A Ton Of Adrenaline, Your Mind Wonders What Arials The Human Body Is Capable Of Doing, How High Mankind Can Go, Knowing The Consiquences Could Be Severe, And You Don't Care, You Cut Out As Far As You Can And Charge That Wake So Hard, You Pop Into The Sky And You Are Weightless, Just Up There Flying Like A Bird.

pottsy 05-30-2007 5:23 PM

I wakeboard to relax and leave stress behind

brad63 05-30-2007 11:11 PM
