considering hitting the water this weekend, but don't konw the temps yet at our lake. Anyone else been out this year in IA or IL? I don't have a dry suit or anything like that.

I am going to check it out this weekend also. Cold water in the 50'S.

siuski 04-17-2007 9:37 AM

We've been down here in So. Il. Went about 3 weeks ago (~80 air, 55 water), then had to re-winterize because of the temps at night! Looks like this weekend we'll be back out.

ironj32 04-17-2007 9:54 AM

you should be fine down there. been ridin' up here in Minneapolis since March 26th. The water finally reached 46 yesterday.

wanabe 04-17-2007 10:07 AM

I would love to, but the Mississippi river temp is only 48 here in Keokuk. NOT that brave, but I'm ready to go when it gets a little warmer.

I'm in Iowa and I went skiing yesterday (with a dry suit).

Some of my buddies were out there with just a no-sleeve barefoot suit though and they didn't die.

The water was probably around the 50 mark.

I have been out on the Chain-O-Lakes twice allready. 3 weeks ago and again last Sunday. Drysuit and closed toe boots make all the difference.

jwb 04-17-2007 1:12 PM

We are heading out to our lake in central IL this weekend if the weather stays decent

wakereviews 04-17-2007 1:16 PM

pwningjr 04-17-2007 1:35 PM

siuski 04-17-2007 2:32 PM

westerdude 04-17-2007 3:29 PM

weve been ridin for about a mounth now water temp was over 50 a few weeks ago but got back down to 45 over the last week due to the snow weve mostly rode dry suits and wet suits but well pry drop down to suit tops this weekend.... we went winchin right when the ice went off the rivers a few mounths ago so youll be fine with a suit

ironj32 04-17-2007 7:28 PM

3/2 shorty everytime...water temp has yet to get above 48. it really isn't that bad.

pc_sledge 04-18-2007 4:20 AM

I've been out several times on the Mississippi water has ranged from 44 to 49. No dry suit, but I have a full wetsuit, closed toe boots, and bought a pair of gloves this March.

spoonman 04-18-2007 6:37 AM

out for 2nd time on 4/15 first was 3/25. water temp actually went down was 56 first and only 50 second.

boarditup 04-18-2007 12:33 PM

Clear Lake looks prime time right now.

ashleyo 04-18-2007 6:02 PM

Yeah I've gone on the Chain-O-Lakes twice. I couldnt have done it without my wetsuit, the inital jump in is cold. But after that its great.

wakeslife 04-18-2007 6:11 PM

Will be out in northern MI in 2 weeks. Its been too long of an off season...

gary_in_ia 04-18-2007 8:58 PM

Went out Tuesday, took it easy and just wakesurfed. I used a drysuit...but had to stop when my feet got too cold. So today...I have a cold!!

redracer2003 04-20-2007 10:37 AM

does anyone know any web sites to find out lake temps around the Iowa area?

dyost 05-01-2007 8:59 PM

Rode the Illinois river two days ago in just a ls top and trunks. Not too cold.

There was another boat of guys just trunking it, and a third boat of skiers in full-suits. We were the only three boats getting in the water.

mjmurphy53711 05-01-2007 11:59 PM
