26lacefield 08-13-2007 9:54 PM

wtf...... did he throw that <font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font> like 50 into reverse. i had a friends dad that threw his boat into reverse from about 40 and it did the same thing he was saying. that was crazy. i wonder how the wake was on that thing after that. hahahahaha

ryand121 08-13-2007 9:55 PM

What really happens when you let your friends borrow your boat, when you're not there...<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

wake_pirate 08-13-2007 9:58 PM

WTF??? Wow looks like that guy had a deathwish, how'd like to be the passenger on that ride??? F@@k ThaT!!!

sinkoumn 08-13-2007 10:28 PM

I do that all the time <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

sinkoumn 08-13-2007 10:31 PM

Ahah, good ol' MW Mastercraft! MN Represent!

xaggie 08-13-2007 10:37 PM

I was watching that after it got posted on TMC. I am almost positive the guy was attempting a powerturn/slide and cranked it into reverse. The boat is still moving backwards when you see it emerge. Notice the end where he is trying to put it back in gear and nothing happens. Either the thing stalled itself or thats big $ from someones pocket. It is inferred that the boat was sold from Midwest Mastercraft, so if your are in the market for a 197 Buyer Beware... <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/blush.gif" border=0>

seanmcd 08-14-2007 4:51 AM

I agree w/Matt, it seems like the guy went to crank the wheel hard right, and maybe his right elbow caught the throttle, pushing it back into reverse. <BR> <BR>If you watch it real close, you can see his arm start to crank the wheel a moment before it dives.. Also, the passenger seems to be positioning herself against the side of the boat preparing for the hard right powerturn. <BR> <BR>He is definitely going backwards when the clip ends... It seems like he even tries to fiddle with the throttle for a sec before he raises his arms in victory. <BR> <BR>Took it in stride though, gotta give him that.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Sean

needwake 08-14-2007 6:55 AM

I think he was trying to do that. <BR> <BR>I skied behind a closed-bow moomba a few years back at a resort in Florida and when we going to wakeboard after thats how the driver used to fill the boat up with ballast.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/blush.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>He didn't care too much about the boat and ran it pretty hard all the time.

xaggie 08-14-2007 9:00 AM

If your serious Todd thats pretty hardcore. Your buddy must have really had it out for that Moomba! <BR> <BR>In this case though I don't think thats what the guy intended.

slipknot 08-14-2007 9:58 AM

Thats incredible, thanks for sharing.

rpayer 08-14-2007 11:11 AM

owned

jarrod 08-14-2007 12:26 PM

That was SICK!!!

schackdaddy 08-14-2007 1:40 PM

suprisingly that is a popular thing that jetboat owners try. I have never seen/heard it done with a mastercraft but have many times with a jetboat.

nick_in_ssp 08-14-2007 1:52 PM

My old man has a three seaters Sea Doo and you can do that really easy on one of those. Just go your desired speed pull the reverse handle out and hit the throtle. I've never done it going faster then about 10 mph, but still kind of fun.

wakescene 08-14-2007 2:02 PM

I love the Metallica version of Breadfan playing in the background!

denverd1 08-14-2007 2:13 PM

"Oops... Hey, just act like we did that on purpose. Wave your arms in the air like this. Oh Sht, the boat won't go..."

jarrod 08-14-2007 2:22 PM

"I love the Metallica version of Breadfan playing in the background!" <BR> <BR>"mommmmmy...where's fluffy?" <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

wakescene 08-14-2007 2:26 PM

Nice JROD! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

whirli_7 08-14-2007 2:41 PM

hmmmmmm, I wonder if this is the guy that they let take my boat out, then racked up a $1300 labor bill to replace the fuel pump?

downfortheride 08-14-2007 3:07 PM

Well Cal. Pro V thought they had a fast filling ballast! I think there is a new product soon to be on the market, now if you could just empty that fast <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0>.

deltaboy 08-14-2007 6:06 PM

Thats totally on purpose, I either saw a thread on here a few months ago or on Youtube, this guy was doing it over and over. I'll try to find it and post.

begarrett 08-14-2007 6:15 PM

Ha, now that's a hard times ballast system

mendo247 08-14-2007 7:46 PM

SICK!

big_ed_x2 08-14-2007 8:42 PM

the fastest filling ballast on the market belongs to MC now.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0>

firemedic 08-14-2007 8:51 PM

Finally, someone found the best use for a Mastercraft.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>

malibuboarder75 08-14-2007 10:49 PM

"this guy was doing it over and over." <BR> <BR>This boat isn't going to last long.

attila916 08-14-2007 11:09 PM

I think I just puked a little in my mouth!

hmurray 08-15-2007 2:47 AM

how is this possible.. if i put our boat. mastercraft prostar 190 in reverse when going with high speed forward it just stops running?

scanboarder 08-15-2007 8:23 AM

Refresh my memory... what happens when you submerge an engine and it takes water thru the air intake? <BR>No way that was done deliberately and no way that Einstein did it more than once.

jayc 08-15-2007 9:10 AM

That didn't take enough water on to hydraulic the engine. It most likely too enough to stall it but seeing as the air intake is about level with the gunwhales it would have sunk before water flooded it.

malibuboarder75 08-15-2007 10:03 AM

Plus the engine cover should keep the water from rushing into the engine compartment. But even with the bilge running, the engine compartment would have water up to the starter.

kenv 08-15-2007 10:34 AM

Scanboarder, <BR> <BR>Watch the video again, he did it deliberately. You can see the girl brace for the dive as he is approaching. She knew she was getting wet <BR> <BR>KV

scanboarder 08-15-2007 10:54 AM

allright, so maybe he did. <BR>Still don't think that makes him any less of a moron.. Some people just have too much money and too damn expensive toys.

malibuboarder75 08-15-2007 11:28 AM

How does he not blow the transmission and screw up all of the electronics?

yager97 08-15-2007 11:46 AM

a fat guy sunk a boat turning too hard, thats all that happened, if you notice, he was turning to the right, the side with all the weight. maybe?

behindtheboat 08-15-2007 11:58 AM

Whether it was deliberate or not, I really don't know but I know there are people out there that could do it. Some peoples reasoning is silly though. Of course the girl is bracing herself, they're about to do a powerturn! Anyone would brace themselves for a hard turn. Weight wouldn't have enough effect on the boat to make that happen. What DID help cause that was what seems to be a roller that he turns in to. You never want to power turn in rough water, let alone directly into a roller. Just seems like a rookie power turn to me. Whatever it is, it is sad to see it happen to such a nice boat. Maybe he's a mechanic too?

timmy 08-15-2007 12:21 PM

A-dub, Kevin said above that he saw a video where the guy was doing it over and over again, on purpose.

behindtheboat 08-15-2007 12:29 PM

My mistake. Should learn to read.

timmy 08-15-2007 12:43 PM

No worries <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

helinut 08-15-2007 3:06 PM

Well I saw a video of elephants flying with a large moose at the helm. Guess you'd believe that too eh? <BR> <BR>Where's the video of it happening over and over? <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

wakeslife 08-15-2007 3:27 PM

Yeah I'll believe Kevin when I see it. That guy looked waaay too surprised to have done that more than once...

seanmcd 08-15-2007 5:02 PM

Hmmm, I would love to see that video, I honestly think it was completely unintended. They both did a good job of making it seem like "We meant to do that!" <BR> <BR>But I doubt it....... <BR> <BR>Sean

99_slaunch 08-15-2007 7:59 PM

Look close and you can see him take the boat out of reverse.

wake_pirate 08-15-2007 9:01 PM

That boat took on tons of water, no way that is going to run correctly w/o some serious attention.

deltaboy 08-15-2007 10:00 PM

This isnt the video I was referring too because I havent found it yet but here is one with a small jet boat <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIbkDbQbNbs" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIbkDbQbNbs</a> I'll eventually figure out where I saw the other one that was two or three times in a row.

08-15-2007 11:40 PM

Love that song.

08-16-2007 8:31 AM

Why would they want to film a guy doing a power turn? Those are a dime a dozen. He did it on purpose. That looks similar to the way my buddies used to submerg their jet skis. You can hear the engine. I bet he came in hot, put it to neutral to let the revs die down and then hit it.

08-16-2007 11:29 AM

Meant to say you can not hear the engine...

behindtheboat 08-20-2007 9:03 AM

From another board regarding this as well: <BR> <BR> <BR>Power Turn Gone Wrong <BR>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <BR> Well everyone this was a ride that I don't want to do again.. Some have asked how we got this on video so well. We(show team) do a few travelling shows and there was a local TV station there that recorded our entire show. <BR> <BR>And yes I'm sure MC is enjoying this!! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by behindtheboat on August 20, 2007)
