Looks on track to be as slick as the last one.

Hey Rod I was in the shop today and checked out the interior. Looks sharp. They also popped out of the mold the gents from Canada's boat today. Sweet gel job and that one too with all the fades. I like the black stripe on yours looks good.

bftskir 03-20-2007 9:19 PM

nice, very nice, that black looks to have a slim white pinstripe too.
good choice on no tribal

OK, I am sure I will get some grief for this, but I could not keep my mouth shut...

I am not sure how I would feel about having my $50k boat built in a shop that looks like an abandoned warehouse. I mean, I get that they are just getting started but how much quality control can you have when you have junk lying everywhere? Maybe it is just me.

Or maybe I owe them an apology....

Sean

Sean,
I thought the same thing. At first I thought that I had clicked on the Ghetto Garage thread. None of that matters though as long as the boat comes out looking good. Some of the most successful CEO's have messy desks.

seanmcd 03-21-2007 10:16 AM

Mike, I completely understand, and agree.

Although, as a company, I do not think that the shop picture presents a very good image of the company. Maybe in the future they should crop the picture, or consider a better angle.

I think that a company's image is a pretty big part of what luxury boat buyers consider when making a purchase. Personally, I had a more favorable opinion of the company's image before I saw their shop

They do look like great boats, and I sure would not turn one away if it showed up on my dock!

Sean

(Message edited by seanmcd on March 21, 2007)

Give em time. They plan on expanding the building especially now that they have several boats on order. That will give them more room. Right now things get pushed to the outside to make room for the builds. Doesnt look great in a picture but its not half bad when in person.

How/why did Epic have so much publicity before it was released and Wakecraft had 0. Is that a good or bad thing for Epic and Wakecraft?

I think the boat has some cool features, but would I spend 50k on a boat that has no reputation no.. I understand he created flightcraft which was bought out by malibu but its still not enough. When you buy a malibu, cc, sanger, MC, it not only comes with dealer support but reassurance that it will hold a value. I think this could be another example of the "azteck boats or session" If you put the boat on the market in a few short years will it be worth anything? I'm not just picking on this boat I feel the same way about epic.

You should have seen Correct Craft's old digs. Neat and organized but not the most beautiful facility.

rodltg2 03-21-2007 12:16 PM

only time will tell. however david telling has a long history in the boat building industry. im not sure if im correct but i believe the epic owner does not. i have not seen one in person, so i can not pass any judgement one way or another. they are completely different animals though. the epic seems to be marketed more towards the hard core wakeboarder/tournament wakeboarder. the wakecraft market is more towards a multi use customer with a lot of cool standard features.

Nate I don’t look at buying a boat as an "investment" other than regards to an “Investment in Family”. But I do hear what you are saying. It seems as though people are buying boats every few years and then selling them to get a new one. I'm not particularly concerned about resale value. The components that make up the rest of the boat other than the hull are virtually the same as in many of the big players. Gages, prop, engines, trany, lifts, steering wheel etc.etc.. Things that already have been proven through years of use. All top brand components. The hull is well built and designed and in my opinion rivals any of the so called top brands. I think most boats have good reputations these days and that it just comes down to personal preferences on style layout etc. I’ve seen the Epic and the first thought I had was Ford Excursion. Its massive looking and probably kick’s tail for what its designed for.

Have you heard anyone complain that their Wakecraft is a piece of crap? I think they are starting to get a good rep IMO. Small enough to make all their customers very happy without worrying how many boats they are building. I get the impression from David that he does this because he loves doing what he does. How can you not give props to someone for that. About 50 -60 boats a year I think is what he is comfortable with because he can have a hand in each one that way. Besides you get it exactly how you want it.

Rod your boat....are you going to keep this one or sell it as well? By the way thanks for snagging my interior design...my wife is flattered. J/K LOL

rodltg2 03-21-2007 1:09 PM

actually i didnt snag the idea, havent even seen it. david must have liked it and used it on mine!
im keeping this one through the summer.

rodltg2 03-21-2007 1:17 PM
