I am going to be hooking up a stereo in my mastercraft, and I have never done it before. I am going to be using a pioneer deck ( non marine) marine 6 1/2's, a non marine amp and non marine 6X9's in boxes under the deck in the bow. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or know a good way for a novice to get it right? Also, do I need to use liquid electic tape on all of the connections that will be exposed to keep from rusting? Any help would be great. Thanks.

All the equipment should come with fairl decent instructions. If you can solder all connections, and use heat shrink. If not, yes I would recommend using electric tape to seal all connections. The liquid stuff is a mess IMO.

You probably know all this but i will say it again, take your time and not get in a rush wanting to hear it. Make sure all your wires stay hidden, and be careful when removing parts of your boat to run wires because you can break things...tabs, plastics, clips, etc. O and on the ground from your amp run both the power and ground back to your battery to avoid any excess noise in the system.

copper doesn't rust.

I'd use heat shrink.
